Rob was a very welcoming host. We enjoyed our stay in his lovely flat. Highly recommended
Rob's place was great! Location-wise, it's 15 min walking from the City Centre, so most of the time we walked & didn't take the bus, but if you ever need to take the bus, it's cheap & takes you there in 5 mins.
In terms of the place itself, very comfortable, lots of light, spacious living room, cozy bedroom and an amazing fireplace!! We bought firelogs from the Tesco on Richmond St (the boulevard that takes you to the city centre) & used them to make a nice cozy fire (the logs light up instantly & burn for about 2 hours each). I recommend this as an experience! Also, the place is very homey & it has loads of psychology, spiritualitity, philosophy and history books (people like Carl Jung or Joseph Campbell for example), so it's great if you're into these kind of things.
There is indeed a coffee shop just around the corner from Rob's place, that's great for the morning coffee. Has Wifi, great music, great food & nice people serving you!
We met Rob's mother at the flat on the day: she's a very nice person, available if you have any questions etc., so couldn't be more happy!
We enjoyed staying here although we had a couple of issues at first. Rob obviously moves out to accommodate for guests which is fine, however we were a little uncomfortable with quite so much personal stuff around as we were expecting a more "uncluttered" approach. That said, Rob was great, sorted us a lovely fire and parking permits and gave us some sound advice about places to visit. Location is brilliant and we slept really well. Excellent shower. The kitchen is hard work but adequate for making breakfast and light meals.
We had a lovely stay at robs flat. It was clean and comfy and had everything we needed. Easy to walk to all the main tourist sites and had great restaurants and cafes nearby.
Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by our host. This is by far one of the best experiences that we have had traveling and utilizing airbnb. We were greeted with a hot cup of tea and cookies, which was absolutely wonderful, especially after a LONG day of traveling (and us being about 45 minutes to an hour late) The neighborhood was beautiful.
We arrived at the apartment and were greeted by Rob's mother who was very nice and accommodating by showing us the in's and out's of the apartment. It was a nice, cozy little apartment in a central neighborhood which was nice! There was a great pub and cafe nearby and the neighborhood in general was pretty central to everything! All in all, Rathmines is a nice quiet area to stay and I had a great time living in Rob's apartment for the week.
Cosy and clean apartment, great location, friendly and no-nonsense host. Nothing to complain about... maybe it would have been nice with wifi, but the nice coffe shop on the corner had free wifi so no complaints there either!
Wonderfully quirky, homey place to stay, very convenient for walking into Dublin. Loved it. Don't miss the Bernard Shaw - particularly the pizza bus!
Great location, easy going host and lots of towels!
