Hello! My name is Kyle Markwalter. I am a high school math teacher living in San Jose, California. But my life so far has taken me all over. I was born and raised in the deep South before living for four years in Minnesota and working in LA and San Jose after that.
I have always done a lot of exploring. I was raised on hiking, canoeing, hunting, fishing, and camping. I love being outdoors and spend a lot that time playing Ultimate frisbee. I have played on teams all over the US and even won the College Championship with my team while I was in college. I do my best to travel, play outside, and see new places so many weekends see me taking day or weekend trips to new places around California.
Outside of exploring, I have a huge interest in music and arts. I have a background in film production and studies. I used to work for a studio in LA before I started teaching. Now I shoot video for ESPN when I am not teaching. I also play music frequently. I drum with a couple groups here in San Jose and have done some recording with another band. On the literary side, I love OLD books. I am talking ancient. I know Latin and Ancient Greek, so I love diving into some (website hidden) or Ovid when I can. This ties deeply into my love for world religions and history. I can dive into any historical-religious topic and come out feeling refreshed and inspired.
As a guest, I am very calm and responsible. I am a leave-no-trace visitor who is happy to help out with cleaning and maintaining the space. My Southern upbringing won't let me leave without making sure I have left my host feeling appreciated.
I am happy to answer more questions! Just get in touch with me!
