Our host was in touch through a rain storm about road closures and the best way to make it to Rancho Delicioso. Joseph was a very gracious and understanding host. Kathia and the other volunteers on the farm were very warm and welcoming. I recommend you follow all of the directions of the hosts, like arriving before dark. The tree house itself is an amazing construction. Very well built and imaginative design. Come one, come all adventurers!
Let me first start off by stating that if you love nature and wildlife, living amongst nature this is your place so go ahead and book it. Joseph was very helpful during booking and answering my plethora of questions. He made the process easy and without worries. Kathia and Jeffrey on site are fantastic and beautiful people. I highly recommend scheduling a Massage with Kathia. I am avid lover of massages and she was by far the best I ever had. Now to the house. . This house is magnificent and the architectural quality was spot on. The pictures do not show the shower so I will explain it to those who are curious. It is a separate structure in another tree behind the two main houses. It is in the shape of a triangle with two sides covered for privacy with the third side open (with a guard rail) so you have an open view to the jungle and the ravine. You will spend much of your time here due to the heat. The shower was one of my favorites. Speaking of heat, we did not have any problems sleeping at night in the heat. It was cool enough to sleep pleasantly without being hot. The mosquito net kept out all bugs and one bird who lost the battle of trying to fly into the bedroom. Bats would fly past you on the bridge at night so just Bob and weave and you will be fine. There is one loner howler monkey that would visit us daily on the branch leaving the kitchen by the couch. He is not aggressive. He will just do cute monkey stuff. In regards to transportation vs walking to montezuma, my husband and I are avid backpackers and you would have to be superhuman to walk there. I suggest renting an ATV through Pacific Dirt Road Adventures out of Playa carman and they will deliver it and pick it up for you. It costs $70 a day with no damage deposit. They do ask for your cc # but do not charge anything unless you break their atv. I have no idea how people rent cars here and get around without destroying the car. The roads are small and bad. The Quads are a great way to see the southern peninsula and for cheap. A lot of rental cars have hidden deposit fees ranging from (phone number hidden). So go with the Quads, we saw many towns and did many activities using the quads in 5 days. The ranch is an organic ranch that supplies their yoga resort with food. Walk around, meet the volunteers and Kathia. This place is so peaceful and surrounded by wildlife and nature. At night you will hear a strange wild cat, not sure if it was an ocelot that hangs out around in the trees surrounding the treehouse. A bit creepy, but it made the experience that much better. I cannot say enough about Joseph's home and the staff. Stop...
This place is really great! Spent a few days backpacking thru the country and it was a great start to be here. It's a unique experience and there are many things that take you out of your comfort zone. Highly suggest booking this place if you are in the area. Henry was very attentive and answered all my million questions which was appreciated!
The treehouse is very well built and creatively constructed, it has an energetic flow to it that is very inviting, warm and welcoming - the swinging bed and candles were also such a lovely addition. Jacque welcomed us to the house and got us acclimated us to our surroundings, she was very friendly, intuitive and helpful, she even offered us yoga instruction. The secluded location was very easy to find via the GPS coordinates supplied by Joseph, and the spectacular waterfall and town of Montezuma were a very short drive away. The eco-friendly aspect was also comforting, we composted our food in the nearby ravine, and the water from our showers fed the plants below. Luxury items like fresh towels, coconut soap, and coffee press were a welcomed and surprising addition to the stay.
The nature was incredible: lightning bugs, many species of birds, and butterflies spent time with us in the tree house. The resident group of Howler monkeys welcomed us upon arrival (apparently they had never come so close before), and even stayed with us through the night in the trees above the house - it was a wondrous first evening. The following days we climbed the tree platform, spent mornings doing yoga and relaxing, making breakfast and dinners in the working kitchen, and watched the sunset through the open windows of the house. Such a wonderful experience!
Loved the tree house. It was exactly what we expected. Beautiful views, and a fun connection with the surrounding outdoors. Joseph and Jaques were both very welcoming, kind and understanding. Great access to Montezuma while remaining removed and secluded for a private vacation experience. The treehouse suits two people perfectly and comfortably. (From experience, we would not recommend having anymore than two people.) So many insects, but we were prepared and we did not mind. We loved hearing the rain during the night and the birds in the morning. Do not recommend storing anything on/under/around the couch in the kitchen area as the roof leaked and soaked some of our things. Not to worry though, we still had an excellent experience. We would return in a heart beat if ever planning to vacation in the area again.
Staying in tree house for two days was one of the BEST experiences we have ever had! We felt very welcomed by Jaques, she gave us organic bananas and mangos, loada of advice abiut the area etc. we felt safe in the surroundings and loved by mother nature.
Thank you Joseph for sharing this wonderful place with the world...
We absolutely loved our stay in the treehouse. A wonderful and once in a lifetime experience.
After a short introduction in the treehouse we enjoyed it from the start. The construction, the material, the view - everything.
- Cooking in the evening was really nice and we enjoyed the sound system, just plug and play with my iPhone. Perfekt.
- Taking a shower in the dark when you hear some mammals strolling around is a challenge and nothing for "Angsthasen"
The tree house was spectacular, such a cool way to experience Cost Rica! We stayed 3 nights here and just loved it. The location is a short drive to Montezuma (not walkable in my opinion) and also not far from Santa Teresa/Mal Pais which we enjoyed visiting.
My favorite part of the actual tree house was the shower, it was so refreshing (not hot, but not cold - you can get hot water but we were too hot already!) and being open to nature like that was a cool experience. Speaking of nature, the wildlife was fun to watch and we didn't have any major issues with insects, which I was a little wary about at first. We used the mosquito net around the bed and that was perfect for comfortable sleeping. On the topic of sleeping, if you are a light sleeper I recommend bringing ear plugs and/or an eye mask. The sun comes up earlier in Costa Rica and there are some sounds in the night that could potentially keep you awake (nothing crazy, but I'm a light sleeper so this was also a concern for me going in).
Lastly, I want to mention what nice people the folks at Rancho Delicioso are. They were very helpful and warm to us. It's quite a cool operation they've got going there - I wish we had taken a tour of the property and shared a meal with them as others mentioned in reviews (website hidden). Don't miss the Montezuma Falls, it's very close by and an amazing thing to see :)
Hello, our experience in the tree house was awesome, we had all needs in our hand, one of the best things was the floating bed, I had to say that we sleep like baby's. The sight that we had was nice. The host Jacques was help full she explains us all the things of the farm, we recommended this place 100%.
Joseph and Cassie were great guests! I wouldn't hesitate to host them again!
