I'm from Dijon, France. I'm a biology student and I'd like to do my internship at UCC and CIT.
Melanie was 1 of 3 students who came for a 4 month intern stay at our home. She appeared discontented from the beginning as she didn't seem to like Cork. the weather, the college, her supervisor and Ireland in general. She eventually broke her college contract and left after 3 months as I understood her results were unsuccessful and she wanted to pursue a new course direction in France. I felt she didn't like me much either as I regularly had to remind her of our basic hygiene rules after using the bathroom or kitchen. I felt I nagged her sometimes into getting out of bed and encouraging her to take some fresh air and exercise after days on end hibernating in tears because she missed her boyfriend. Melanie often ate alone in her room (to my ignored disapproval) which prevented good communications in the house and this type of void created a negative atmosphere between the 3 students. On 1 occasion all 3 students went to Dublin for a weekend break but after 1 night Melanie returned to Cork and from then onwards the other 2 students explored Ireland at the weekends without her.She was a little happier when her boyfriend came to visit her for a week. I provided them with a double bed as requested (without addition cost for the accommodation). He seemed a nice guy although he could not speak any English and constantly kissed her lips in everyone's company which was a bit embarrassing and somewhat vulgar for my younger teenagers.Immediately after Melanie returned to Dijon I contacted her to confirm her safe arrival but I did not get a reply!
