the house is very dirty! is furnished wrong, some of the furniture has not been fully assembled.
we found a few cockroaches in the kitchen, and a window you can not close properly.
Furthermore, it took was a little smoke, but really very little smoke to start the fire alarm system, forcing us to use fans in a totally fanciful.
the only positive note is the location of the apartment which is located within walking distance from many metro lines, and is in a very quiet neighborhood, do not be afraid to shoot at night.
However, in my personal opinion the asking price for the service given is high.

We stayed at Mauricio’s place in November 2011 and were disappointed about our first time airbnb experience. After booking and again 3 weeks ahead of our trip we tried to contact Mauricio, but did not receive an answer. A week before the trip we decided to contact airbnb to help us to contact with Mauricio, who was not reacting to messages over the airbnb system, and neither over his personal e-mail. 3 days before our departure we received a message from him and we accorded an hour for our arrival.
We were there – but he was not. And he did not show up until 40 minutes later (his phone was off). When he arrived he mentioned, that he had sent us a mail (during our flight, so we had not received it yet) announcing that we could leave our luggage at the arranged hour, but that the apartment would not be ready until then. Mauricio let us store our luggage in the apartment (which was a mess) and sent us for a round in the quarter. He went down to the street with us to show us some restaurants. We wandered around jet-lagged for an hour in Fort Greene, buying some food for a nice dinner at the apartment later on. When we arrived again an hour later, he had to clean the bathroom still, but then left us with some tips for NY.
Even after cleaning, it was definitely not clean in this apartment. There is a carpet at the entrance and around the bed, that needed to be hovered. We did not feel like going barefoot or even in socks (and in so far - not toddler friendly!).
The building has a cockroach plague, and cooking is not fun, if there are cockroaches around the oven and sink (and as well on the wall next to the bed).
The apartment looks NOT like on the pictures anymore! There is no place to eat decently, the kitchen table you see on the current pictures has turned into a high/ big bookshelf in black (so no possibility to use it as a table). The sofa is in front of the heating, by the windows, and one window is missing the upper part – so is not closing! Opposite of the sofa now there is this desk, but it is too high to eat there, too, and the TV/DVD/STEREO is not any more part of the amenities of this apartment.
During the night there were strange and loud noises from the tubes, that made it hard for us to sleep well. Overall not a pleasant stay, we tried to stay out from the apartament as much as we could, and the only positive thing was the neighborhood and the good connection with trains and metro.
Mauricio was a great host! Everything that I needed him he helped me right away! The location is perfect!!!
Mauricio is an awesome host - we had a great 4-night stay. Subways close and easy to acess; friendly neighborhood with great bars and restaurants. Also very close to BAM where they have excellent performance stuff. Very great value and very accessible!
Thanks again Mauricio!
The location is great. Really close to train stations (like a couple minutes walk, really close), and great restaurants and coffee. We really liked Greene Grape (a market a few minutes walk away) and Greenlight Bookstore. The ride into the city took about 10-20 mins, not bad.
The apartment itself was good, in a nice, safe building in a good neighborhood. It is small, perfect for 1-2 people. Everything was clean and comfortable.
Mauricio's apartment is a really nice place to start your explorings of New York from. Extremely close to the subway that will take you anywhere in NYC. We stayed for 2 nights and were happy to have found his place. It's small, but everything you need is in there: bathroom, kitchen and bed. The apartment was clean and tidy, just right. Only small dissapointment was the mix up over the time we would pick up the house keys. We had to wait for and hour and an half and that was unfortunate. Mauricio however made up for it with all the information during the rest of our stay.
Mauricio was very helpful in providing directions to his address and being there to welcome us on arrival after a long journey. The studio was smaller than we'd anticipated from the photo's with minimum space to accommodate our belongings, The air conditioning didn't work and there was no television however, this didn't concern us too much as we were out most of the time we stayed at there. The studio - importantly the bathroom - was reasonably clean and, accepting the kitchen is simply a stove and sink, it served it's purpose. The location of the studio close to most metro & the LIRR connections plus shops and range of restaurants is very useful which would be a positive if we were to stay in Brooklyn again.
My boyfriend and I stayed in Mauricio's apartment for 7 nights in September 2011. It was a great experience from start to finish. He was incredibly accommodating when we arrived a bit late and gave us a lot of useful information. The place was just what we needed: a nice bed, small kitchen with clean dishes, and a clean bathroom. It was in a well-kept building within a 3 minute walk of a major subway station with many lines going to Manhattan. There were many restaurants, shops, and cafes nearby. The 24 hour supermarket was also a 3 minute walk away. It took only about 15-20 minutes to Times Square, for example. Brooklyn was a great place to stay: so many unique neighborhoods to explore!
We had a wonderful experience staying in Mauricio's apartment and would certainly return if we make it back to NY!
We stayed at Mauricio's apartment for 5 nights. Overall, the experience was good. Mauricio was very helpful and provided us with maps and advice about things to do in the city. Mauricio came to the apartment once while we were there to pick up some things but this was not an issue. Fort Greene is a fabulous neighborhood-- close to a major subway, a shopping center, groceries, restaurants, etc.
My one complaint would be that the apartment felt a bit smaller than what the pictures showed and it was a little bit dirty. In the kitchen and in the bathroom in particular I found cockroaches (small ones) on a nightly basis.
We loved visiting NY and staying in Brooklyn and will definitely do it again!
Mauricio's apartment is excellent - I highly recommend staying there, and would do so again myself. It's in a great location (transportation, restaurants, cafes, nightlife are all right there), in a nice building, and the apartment itself is clean and comfortable.
Nice guest! I wasn't home, but my roommate only had good things to saying when meeting Mauricio. Left the place clean and like he wasn't here! Would love to have him back anytime.
Mauricio was a great guest, very nice and clean. We enjoyed hosting him for one night.
