Overall I did not have a good experience with Scott. Here's the criteria... Pros: - Awesome view - Spacious apartment - Cute neighborhood with great spots to eat right around the corner - Convenient walk to beach and Waikiki - Enjoyed cute and quirky touches like the guitars and ukelele and music - Reliable Wi-fi Cons: - Lack of timely communication between Scott and myself. I booked his place a month in advance, but didn't know if he would be meeting me for check in or not. I received a text from him the day I arrived in Hawaii to tell me how to check in. - Check in method was unusual and consisted of him placing a key in a high location. I didn't get a chance to meet Scott, so I am assuming he is a tall guy, and this was easy for him to reach. Unfortunately I'm short, and there was no ladder, so I had to resort to jumping up on some luggage to reach the key. It was a potentially unsafe way to get it but I managed. I did text Scott for help but he didn't get back to me in a timely manner. - I found Scott's place to be unclean. The kitchen garbage wasn't taken out, there was rotting fruit in the fridge, there was hair in the bathtub, there was dust on the floor. It raised questions in my mind as to the cleanliness of the rest of the apartment. - As I noted the hairs in the bathtub I didn't really want to shower there. My friends and I made up for it by staying out pretty much all day, so by the time we got back we just fell asleep, so we did sleep well in the beds provided. Upon checkout I have to apologize to Scott that my friends left his power on. I didn't know they did this and I didn't really have control over this as I had already left for home. I did, as Scott mentions in his review of me, throw away his shower sponge. I will apologize for this as well, as it was an emotional act. I hope the 3 new pillows that we left help make up for it a little bit. (We bought new pillows at WalMart since the ones Scott provided were a bit flat.) I don't think Scott's a bad guy. I wish he had communicated better with me. I wish he had considered that he might have short guests who can't reach his key in a high place. I don't know why he wasn't there and he never offered to meet up with me during my stay. He never explained these things to me before, during, or after my stay. It's pretty clear it didn't work out with us and we had a lot of misunderstandings. Still, I wish him the best and I still have faith in Airbnb!
