Hi, my name is Miriam and I am married to Hugh for the past 31years. We both live in Debbicot, Mountmellick, Co. Laois. I am a native of Mountmellick and Hugh is a Native of Derry City, Northern Ireland. We have lived in our home for the past 22years and we have two adult children. We love living here, as our location is so central to the rest of Ireland and is great for day trips out and about to see all Ireland has to offer in terms of Culture and Heritage. No place is too far to travel from here, you can travel as far as Cork in 2 hrs and Derry City in 4hrs, Dublin in 1hr and Galway in less than 2hrs and all within the speed limits!
We love traveling and recently returned from traveling around Australia, New Zealand and California. We have been in most European countries, the USA , Cape Verde Islands & Canary Islands and our next trip we hope shall be Canada. High has been to India - which I hope to visit sometime in the future also. We organise our own trips abroad and never stay in hotels or holiday tourist apartments , we like the personal interaction with home owners and have home exchanged in more than 25 homes to date around the world. So if you want a place to stay that gives you your own privacy, you may have that here or you can also just drop into us anytime for a chat and a cuppa. We are very easy going.
We love meeting new people and hearing about their adventures and travels.
I love reading and drawing and I am a qualified Interior Designer, but have retired from work early. Hugh loves Computers, Music & Movies. He loves revamping old houses and has completed most of the work himself around our house.
We both love good music sessions in the local pubs in the area. Mountmellick has some great singers and musicians. We like a wide variety of music and have in the past gone to many music concerts( something we need to start doing again). We enjoy going to Blues & Jazz festivals.
As guests in other peoples properties we are respectful of their homes and properties and as hosts we would hope our guests would be respectful of our home and property, because it is a beautiful homely old house that has always received plenty of TLC.
While our house is Self Catering Accommodation, we do provide Complementary tea, coffee, sugar, milk, bread, butter and preserves to get you started.
We look forward to meeting you in the future should you choose to book your accommodation with us.
If we were to have a life motto- ( which we really don't), it would be " Life is too short, so make the most of it and enjoy it while you can". Happy Holidays to all.
