I retired from a 25 year career in art two years ago to become a service dog trainer. Spending time and interacting with dogs and other animals is just something I've always loved, and although the majority of my "work" time here on the island is spent training basic obedience skills and agility, I still do get the occasional service dog to train.
I have a background in theater arts, graduated from Stanford University, and later Bergin University Assistance Dog Institute. I play concertina and fiddle in an Irish band for added enjoyment.
The writers loft is above my art studio and my cottage is a short distance away. The loft can actually accommodate two people as it has a comfortable double bed but most Americans are used to a queen size bed - you can decide for yourselves if two of you would be comfortable. There is also a window seat that is quite useable for sleeping. Although I enjoy long distance walking and travel, I love returning to my home and this community, and have lived on Orcas and owned the property for 36 years.
