Me and my girlfriend spent 10 days in Sung's apt.
The apartment was 100% matching the description and pictures, it was great, modern place, clean, comfortable and very convenient to Manhattan (2 subway stations nearby). Sung was helpful and always super-quick to our questions!
I really recommend it!!
I and three friends rented Sung's apartment for four days. When we first arrived, we had a wonderful surprise of finding a box of delicious chocolates on the kitchen counter. Her welcome gift. Also, the bed and the sofa are very comfortable. Her Place is very cozy too. It is worth to point out that it is located next to two metro station, making it easy to get to Manhattan.
I would highly recommend this apartment. We stayed here for 1 week and in terms of proximity to Manhattan, you couldn't ask for better. There are two subway stations literally 2 minutes walk away from the apartment which give you different options of train lines into Manhattan. Also this apartment is very convenient for getting to and from JFK airport - after getting the Airtrain to Jamaica Station you can get the E train directly to the subway station around the corner from the apartment. The apartment is also extremely easy to find from either subway station and as the key for the apartment was left with the concierge, arrival was hassle free.
The apartment itself is exactly as described and as seen in the photos. It's fabulous! It's definitely a luxury apartment and is fitted out to a very high spec throughout. The kitchen has the best of appliances, the apartment also has a fantastic TV system with surround sound, wide range of channels and free wifi is also available. The apartment was very clean and well presented. In addition to the apartment, you have access to the roof top terrace on the 30th floor and the views of the Manhattan skyline from here are absolutely spectacular! On the 3rd floor, there is a another terrace with sun loungers and seating and you also have access to a gym, so the facilities in this apartment block really are fantastic. There is also a deli located around the corner from the apartment which was very handy for picking up day to day groceries as well as takeaway salads/sandwiches or freshly cooked hot food.
Sung was a fantastic host and replied immediately to any queries we had. She was also very flexible regarding check in/check out time. On arriving to the apartment, Sung had a left an A4 sheet with some very useful information for our stay in her apartment as well some suggestions of nearby restaurants, delis etc. This sheet was accompanied by some nice chocolates and an invitation to use anything in the fridge which is a nice touch! Sung also provided a very comfortable queen size air mattress for use during our stay.
All in all, I would highly recommend staying in this apartment and would really hope to stay here again at some point in the future!
My wife and I stayed in Song's apartment for about a week during a recent visit to New York. The apartment was comfortable and very quiet. Song proved to he an excellent host. She facilitated the key transfer and was very helpful in providing restaurant options. The best thing about the apartment was its proximity to a subway hub. The Queensborough station allows access to multiple subway lines. As was noted, the neighborhood is in transition and not really attractive but that didn't create any problems at all.
Prior to arrival Sung was very helpful with recommendations for local restaurants etc.
We arrived late from Montreal and as promised the key was left with the Ralph the Concierge.
Our first impressions were great and the apartment was spotless. The view from the living room of the Manhattan skyline was spectacular.
Sung kindly provided us with fresh coffee and other stuff in the refrigeration and a private note said we could help ourselves to anything including sodas, pepsi etc., which was a nice thought.
There's a roof terrace on the 30th floor with chairs and loungers again with a brilliant view of Manhattan. On the 3rd floor there's another large terrace with sofas, tables and chairs and in an adjacent room there's lounge with a pool table and loads of books to borrow. In another room nearby there's a cinema room and further along there's a fully equipped gymnasium.
The subway was literally 100 yards away in a very safe area. There's a grocery store called Cranberries literally 50 yards away.
All in all, I can wholeheartedly recommend Sung's apartment !
Sung responded very quickly to my reservation request and to my follow-up e-mails. The apartment was exactly as presented and very clean. It had excellent wireless service and great views of the city!
The location was perfect, just one block from the subway station and less than 10 minutes to Manhattan. The total time would have been less if I had checked the train schedule.
I would definitely recommend Sung as a hostess and this apartment to Airbnb users!
Sung was helpful in telling us how close her apartment was to a wedding we were attending; also helped us with subway on arrival. The apartment is lovely with a great view. Well equipped. Perfect for us.
We (me, my wife and my 4 years old daughter) spent 12 days in Sung's place by the end of April/beginning of May 2014.
The stay has been wonderfull, perfect. The appartment was 100% matching the description and pictures: bright and light-filled, confortable, clean, charming. There is a gym (we didn't use it, discovering NYc was work-out enough for us!), a wonderfull roof terrace with breath-taking views of Manhattan and a Lounge (didn't use it either). Concierges were very friendly and helpful; we had lots of fun with them as well.
The locations is very convenient too: there are 3 subway stations nearby (no more than 500 m walk) that give you access to Manhattan and Brooklyn (lines N, Q, R and 7). It takes about 20 minutes to reach south Central Park (door to door). It's almost impossible to be closer to Manhattan not being in Manhattan!. And having different lines to choose from proved to be a significant advantage in case of disruptions in the sub-way service: you can always find your way even if 1 line is blocked.
Although the zone might not be the most charming in NYC (Queens Plaza), and nowadays they are somehow "refurbishing" the area (lot's of new and modern buildings in the place of old shops, commerces and workshops) there are several nice restaurants nearby, cafes, dinners, and one nice supermarket 1 block away from the apartment (we used it extensively! It also offers warm food to take away). Even so we enjoyed the zone as well (the old and the new bites), although we didn't explore it in detail.
Sung has been a wonderful host. Even if we didn't have the chance to meet (we checked-in very late in the evening and checked-out during working hours), the communication has been great. She answered extremely quickly the couple of enquiries and questions we made. And it was such a nice surprise to find fresh water, some fruits and other munchies when we arrived (extremely tired as we were after the long flight).
I definitely recommend Sung's appartment.
Great, modern place. Very convenient to Manhattan. Sung was helpful and easy to reach.
This is an absolutely fabulous place to stay! The views of Manhattan are just amazing! The apartment (feels new) is conveniently located -- the subways are within 1 or 2 blocks from the apt. and PS-1 MOMA is a short 5 minute walk away. A great restaurant LIC-Market is within walking distance. The neighborhood is gentrifying with new buildings sprouting up all over.
Since it's a one bedroom apartment, Sung provided us with an air mattress in the living room for our 3rd person. The bathroom is off the kitchen so that 3rd person doesn't have to go through the bedroom to reach it. Sung was great to work with too. All-in-all, I'd highly recommend this and would stay there once again in the future.
