My boyfriend and I, and another couple, had almost 2 weeks staying at this property. Vincent and Alienor were very helpful and friendly: easy to contact, responsive, and provided us with a comprehensive guide to the neighbourhood and the house, as well as breakfast basics (tea, coffee, nutella) on arrival. Alienor was at the house at check in and check out and was very welcoming. La Villette is an interesting area and the canal and surrounding parks scenic and vibrant. It was very easy to walk, cycle or train to everywhere else that we wanted to go in Paris. The house is lovely, with a great courtyard and friendly neighbours; although with 4 of us, the accommodation was pretty cosy. I would have no hesitation in recommending this property, or Vincent as a host, to others.
Great first airbnb experience. I didn't get to meet Vincent as he was out of town, but his stepmom set us up in the apartment. My friend spoke French so it made it a bit easier I think than if I didn't, but she was kind and set us up with where to go in the area. Just a few blocks up from Vincents place is the water and great restaurants, which was a nice surprise. His place is just like the photos. It's clean and the kitchen area is a good size. It is close to two metro spots. The only thing is it a bit of a trek to the major tourist attractions, but I knew that going in. Was a good spot and would recommend!
Cosy , querky apartment, very convenient to the canal.
Very secure which was peace of mind.
Good communication from Vincent by email and SMS with any questions or queries.
A charming house in a very awkward locality.
House does have a lot of character and taste. Not too far from Lumiere Metro station.
Don't be fooled by the description saying 2-4 persons. Surely only a 2 person house, 4 is a big stretch as we discovered with space and water heating. Not advisable for those with kids (and those who are afraid of heights) due to a steep exposed staircase.
Host was not present for check in and check out although kept sending texts whenever required. Host was gracious enough to provide invitation letter etc required for a Visa and answered all questions during the booking process.
Host also requested permission to enter the house (to pick up something he had left behind) after we had moved in but had gone out to view the city. Then left notes all over the place on how he wanted to the heaters to be left, and the lights etc. Left a very bad taste in terms of invasion of privacy and the feeling of a vacation.
A great place to stay. Vincent was very accomodating when we missed out flight and wound up checking in much later than we meant to. Vincents guide to the house was very helpful and has some great recommendations. Would come back!
Nice old house in quiet courtyard - close to metro and amenities - was perfect for us. Vincent the host was very friendly and helpful - thanks!
I didn't get to meet Vincent but he arranged for his neighbor to pick me up and bring me to the apartment, and everything went smoothly. The apartment is true to the photos, and very cosy! I slept on the couch on the second floor as I found the ladder to the third floor a little too steep and scary but it should be fine for everyone else! The apartment is conveniently located, only a 10min walk to Laumiere station and very close to Gare du Nord train station. A good stay!
Stunning house in a fantastic area of Paris. Vincent made the check in and check out very easy and even let us keep our bags there until late afternoon.
This is a charming house that seems like a gem from the past in the midst of gritty Northern Paris. The neighborhood is not for everyone. This space was much larger than anything in this price range in Paris and it worked well for us. We loved the courtyard especially for eating in the evening. We did not use the upper level bedroom because of the ladder going up to it, but the pull out bed on the middle floor was quite comfortable.
spent by me a "romantic" weekend ... absolutely quiet and respectful
It was a great pleasure to host Vincent during the christmas holidays. He is a nice person, left the room tidy and is a recommended guest.
Very relaxed, friendly couple who seemed to enjoy their weekend in the Cotentin. A pleasure to host.
I met Vincent a few years ago.
He is one of those I really enjoyed playing volleyball with. A nice guy, seriously.
He lives in a pretty little house (not an apartment, rare in Paris !) with a paved court, small trees and a BBQ...
I love the quarter (I live around here)... You will really like the Canal and the Parc des Buttes-chaumont, the Bassin de la villette, the Parc de la vilette, and several little cafés/bars.
The metro 5 is near Vincent's house too. 10 minutes from Gare du nord.
I met Vincent at College and I can guarantee that he is a trustful person, very nice and friendly. His apartment is ideally located in the secret Paris. I definitelly recommend it.
Forget the expensive hotel and enjoy Paris like a local thanks to him !
Vincent and Aliénor are very good friends since years, they are very organized, easy to live with, friendly, open-minded, always happy to help and to meet people.
Aliénor and Vincent are good friends, and I'm sure they are really nice as hosts too. Their house is even better than on pictures. Highly recommended!
Aliénor and Vincent are people that you can trust, whether they be your hosts or guests. Their house in Ourcq is a fantastic place to stay at, in a lovely area, do not hesitate!
We know very well this nice and welcoming couple, and for sure you will appreciate your stay in their little home. It's ideally situated, in the secret Paris, close to where Amelie Poulain used to skim stones on the Canal Saint Martin... ! (And, by the way, we highly recommend you the song "Moi je vis chez Amélie", by "Les Fatals Picards", a very French music band !).
Vincent and Aliénor have been my neighbours for several months.
They're super friendly and very welcoming (the kind of neighbours who end up serving you dinner when you knock their door) !
You will love the nice courtyard (trees & birds in the middle of Paris!) and the cosy house they have.
Ideal place for lovers ;-)
