We thoroughly enjoyed our three night stay at this lovely oceanfront cottage in Sooke. The ocean view from the living area and the deck was amazing. The cottage has everything you need and more and was very clean, nicely decorated and very comfortable - we wish we could live there year round. Norm and Pam are great hosts - they are friendly and helpful if you need anything but otherwise they give you your privacy. We spent every evening out on the deck enjoying the view - it was so relaxing. On our last night we went to the great fish shop just down the road and picked up some delicious bacon wrapped scallops and smoked salmon for our dinner. We enjoyed watching the seals and the otters out front of the cottage as well as the hummingbirds that came to visit. We found the cottage a great base from which to explore Sooke and the many beautiful beaches around Sooke - we enjoyed Mystic Beach the most. We had a wonderful time and we would definitely stay here again. Thank you Norm and Pam!
We had a wonderful time and felt very welcome and happy in this beautiful situation. The cottage was truly picturesque and gorgeous walks through the woods to little beaches were close by. Pat and Norm were lovely hosts.
My family very much enjoyed our 3 night stay in Norm and Pat's cottage. The cottage was very charming, clean, and well kept. The view of the ocean from the living area was amazing. The location couldn't have been better for us. Sooke is such a charming town with many outdoor activities to enjoy. Victoria is only a short drive away. Loved swimming at the Sooke Potholes. Norm and Pat were wonderful hosts who were very friendly and gracious with our many questions. I would definitely stay here again.
5 stars - Highly recommended !!! There are places like this... where you will leave with amazing memories. We had such a good time !
The cottage is just perfect. You will find absolutely everything you need. I was able to cook gourmet cuisine exactly like at home ! And the view... is superb. We couldn't stop staring at the sea. Our morning breakfasts and our evening drinks on the balcony: wonderful !!
There are a lot of things to do around Sooke. We could have easily spent two weeks !
And the best for last: Norm and Pam are the nicest people and the best hosts, ever. Thank you so much to both of you for everything, we really hope that we will have the chance to come back.
We had such a lovely time staying at this place! The cottage was just as depicted in the site, with a beautiful view of the ocean from the front deck where we sat in the mornings and watched the birds and otters.
Norm and Pam were excellent hosts, great to chat with and very knowledgeable about the area.
We stayed here for two of the nights of our vacation, but we wished we could have stayed the entire time!
The Oceanfront Cottage was amazing ... better than described. Neat, clean, quiet and very comfortable. We enjoyed our six night stay and couldn't have had a better first experience with aribnb. Pam and Norm were great hosts, right next door but they left us to our own private cottage but with us knowing they were only a few steps away if we had any questions. The view is perfect ... the wildlife plentiful: bald eagle greeted us on arrival, hummingbirds, gulls, swans, geese, herons, kingfishers, otters and deer. We watched the tide come in and go out ... the crab catchers and boats passing by. While in Sooke we did many things and saw a lot of the area from a very central location. Whale watching was probably the highlight after the relaxing cottage. We was several humpbacks on our excursion and enjoyed a morning trip to the Straight of Juan du Fuca. Thank you Pam and Norm ... you have a great spot on Sooke Harbour, thanks for sharing the cottage with us. We hope to return some day to the great spot on Sooke Harbour.
We, a family of 2 adults and 2 children (9&11), stayed in this beautiful cottage for 2 nights at the tail end of our holiday to Canada from Australia. Norm and Pam are a couple of the warmest, friendliest people you could meet and they certainly made our visit to Sooke all the more wonderful by us meeting them.
The cottage is very clean, well equipped, warm and welcoming and a lovely, lovely place to stay. It was just what we needed after a rather hectic, jam packed few weeks of holiday and especially after the hustle and bustle of Vancouver.
Relaxing on the deck watching the many Canada geese, the pair of humming birds that visited the bird feeders, spotting otters in the evening and keeping an eye out for the local seals was fantastic. We were lucky enough to have a doe and her fawn come crashing through the bush right near the deck on the last morning we were there.
The cottage had everything we needed and the beds were very comfortable - the kids loved the Murphy bed as we had never seen one before! We appreciated the extra touches of the night-light in the bathroom and the binoculars on the windowsill.
My only complaint is that we did not have enough time left in our holiday to stay for longer!
I couldn't have chosen a better place to celebrate my birthday and thoroughly enjoyed the home cooked meal we had whilst overlooking the beautiful vista and watching the otters play on the jetty. I would highly recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a peaceful place to stay.
Thank you again Norm and Pam for sharing your wonderful property with us and for helping create amazing memories from our holiday to Canada.
Norm and Pam were super nice hosts. Everything was as we expected. A really beautiful location with lots of wildlife to view.. Deer, geese, ducks and hummingbirds. The cottage was fantastic! Our experience couldn't have been better. Thanks for the experience!
Great experience!! Norm and Pam went out of their way to answer all our questions expertly and graciously. So much fun chatting about travelling and their knowledge of the Sooke area! The comfortable cottage was exactly as described and sits on a little piece of paradise! There is a constant ebb and flow of both tides and wildlife right at your front door. My husband and I were thrilled to watch an large group of sea otters at play both in the water and on the dock! We also spotted both seals and deer daily. The bird watching was AMAZING and we enjoyed the interactions of kingfishers, hummingbirds, herons, swans and Canadian geese! The cottage was very clean with all the amenities you need for your stay. The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen had all the equipment needed to cook up great meals. Their neighbour sells beautiful local seafood and it was just great to walk over and pick up fresh oysters, salmon and so much more. The cottage is centrally located and it is an easy walk to the Visitor's Centre and Sooke Regional Museum (great little museum for local history). The beaches are stunning and varied! Aylard Farms in East Sooke Park had a lovely sandy beach and some great coastal hiking. French Beach has easy access and a rocky shoreline. , and Whiffin Spit is so close by and is a great walk with lots of birds to see. The cottage is close to the town of Sooke and it's easy to do some shopping. We really fell in love with the cottage and the Sooke area. Thanks so much Norm and Pam for making this our best airbnb experience yet!
