Hey, I'm Laura!
Chattanooga, Tennessee, United States · Member since January 2012

Hi I'm Laura! I'm a freelance graphic designer and photographer from Tennessee. I've lived in the South my whole life but decided about halfway through college that there was nothing better than foreign travel. So I put together the best excuse I could and went to Spain for a summer for a short study abroad and that was that. I knew that like three things ever were worth spending money on - travel, healthy food, and family. And I'm fortunate enough to do two of those things on a pretty regular basis since the fam all lives near by :)

So I traveled a lot through college and afterwards. I speak a small amount of Spanish but when I drink a bit I definitely improve. I've been to Spain, England, Scotland, Austria, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Ecuador, and a handful of places in the Caribbean (but for brief periods of time... days or hours). I actually haven't been very far around the US. I went to California for the first time this past summer to spend a week in SF with the babely, awesome Kenneth, and then we roadtripped it back to TN in three days. So... I take it back. I've seen some of the states but definitely not enough.

I am also a full time dog enthusiast. I have a 5 year old basset hound / dachshund mix named Lucy. She is an expert moth hunter and she lives on my couch. She smells awful and when she shakes her ears out her eye boogers fly off her face and sometimes onto my skin. So, she's gross. But I love her and she's pretty forgiving so we deal. Bless her.

Ken and I met through blogging. Which is crazy. But you never know how that kind of thing will happen :) We're just happy to have found the other person who wants to get out and explore. Life and travel is so much better with a partner. And it helps that he's an incredible photographer. He now lives and works here in Tennessee as a freelance videographer and Social Media lead for a small business in town.

Lastly, Ken and I leave our spaces clean. I think we've both worked in service industries for too long to think it's OK for someone to clean up after us, regardless of a cleaning fee. We are very respectful of space and feel it's only right to leave a place as nice or nicer than you found it.

Cheers!
