I am a long time hostess. I've had extensive experience with my own vacation rentals in Silver City, NM. Love animals, whole foods, conservation, gardening, meeting new people, all music especially classical and jazz.
16 yrs ago I was living on a boat in Marin and decided I needed a garden and a dog. To keep my history of living on/near the water, I ended here attracted to Sonoma Creek, a magical body of water that travels all the way to San Pablo Bay from Sugarloaf State Park. It is a short creek where Native Americans made medicine and fished and hunted. Now that the rains have started, the steelhead will be making their way up stream from the ocean to spawn. The creek has river otters and though we are a neighborhood our area is full of deer and wild turkeys, foxes and occasional bobcat or mountain lion.
This said, we are at the end of the lane and it is very tranquil, mellow and safe. Watching the creek roar with flotsam and jetsam is a meditation in itself.
I've traveled in Asia, Latin America, slightly Europe but am vastly interested in seeing more of our National parks. I love swimming, boats, hiking, cooking. My trip to Asia included visiting Muong tribes in Viet Nam and the elephant hospital in Northern Thailand. One of my favorite stays was in Luong Prabang in Laos, though it was a bit more elegant than my usual mode. People in poorer countries are astoundingly friendly and use their resources creatively and usefully. Very inspiring.
I try and make people very welcome and to use my home as their own.
My habits are walking, gardening, hosting, museums in SF, and writing. Though I mostly eat raw foods, my cooking urges are satisfied with breakfast breads and fruit in the mornings, and certainly coffee and tea are available. I try to eat organic foods and prepare everything from "scratch."
WhenI finish the pruning, I'll put some garden pictures on the site. Spring brings the roses, though I have some food planted also.
My philosophy is that I am a guest on this planet and I attempt to have a very small footprint with a minimal use of earth's resources
