Arjun

Hey, I’m Arjun!

Providence, Rhode Island, United States · Member since January 2012

I am a scientist by trade, and a creative at heart. I have a history of playing, writing, and producing music, as well as doing basic science research on such topics as Cancer, and Alcohol and Memory.

I own and run a recording studio in Boston ((URL HIDDEN) and I write and curate for a music apparel project ((URL HIDDEN)

I love to cook (too much), and I'm a very easy houseguest and travel light.

Here is some really nice stuff someone wrote about me once!

"Arjun Ray’s mind resides on the edge between the tangible and the intangible, between logic and spirit. His insatiable curiosity propels him to corners of the world, library shelves, and search engines, and he collects accolades in areas of research ranging from fly husbandry to punk rock stardom to published scientific author to the most-intriguing-conversationalist-at-your-next-dinner-party. Containing a brain uniquely balanced between scientific reasoning and creativity, he harbors the rare ability to express himself in both domains with passion and eloquence.

Receiving his B.S. from Brandeis University in Neuroscience and Biology, Arjun Ray is now pursuing a PhD in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology and Bio- chemistry at Brown University. This is just one facet of his many dimen- sions. Arjun is also a co-owner of Echo, a sound recording studio based in Boston, MA. As an engineer, producer, and musician he engages in recording sessions aiming to experiment and push boundaries, sonically and musically. His experience builds from a previous life as rock-and-roller for the successful Muslim punk band, The Kominas. Though he is not Muslim and does not identify as Taqwacore, he has played a pivotal role in the development of the controversial scene surrounding this subculture.” – (URL HIDDEN)
