Professional couple who built and finished their dream cabin in the mountains
We highly recommend the FairPlay Chalet. This beautiful cabin in the mountain is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the beauty. Shannon thought of everything you would need during your stay. We loved returning to the cabin each day after skiing to cook dinner, play games and just enjoy being in such a beautiful place. My husband and I, along with 2 other a couples, stayed 4 nights completely comfortable with plenty of space for all. The chalet truly feels like a retreat. We would love to return in the summer time.
We had such a great experience staying at the Fairplay Chalet! The log cabin is gorgeous and expertly decorated. Shannon really did think of everything as far as stocking the house with all the kitchen and bathroom essentials. This made it very easy for us out of towners that wanted to cook some of our own meals. The cabin was a little challenging to drive to but it is so worth the drive! We spent a lot of time in Breckenridge skiing and enjoying some of the shopping and restaurants there during our stay.
I would highly recommend to anyone with a larger group that is looking for a wilderness getaway. We'd love to return during the warmer months!
This is a beautiful chalet appointed with all the comforts of home, plus some...the views are fantastic! 2 sided fireplace in the loft between a queen sized bedroom, and a spacious bath with large soaking tub. The living area also has a fireplace with plenty of comfortable seating area, blankets and pillows for snuggling by the fire. Kitchen is equipped with everything you could possibly need...all clean and in working order. Gorgeous wrap-around deck with a propane heated table...perfect for sitting out and gazing at the incredible stars...If you plan to stay here in the winter months, a 4-wheel drive vehicle is imperative!!! Lots of snow!!! The road to the chalet is well-maintained, but snow-covered with a couple of tricky turns. The owners of this chalet were wonderful to work with, prompt reply to any and all questions. An absolutely, tranquil environment and I would highly recommend this beautiful chalet!!!
We had a fantastic experience during our week at The Fairplay Chalet! The cabin is like new and well cared for inside and out and has all the comforts of home. The heat and fireplaces kept us nice and warm and the kitchen had everything we needed to cook meals for our family of four. Even though there are neighbors nearby, it was extremely peaceful. Driving to Breckenridge took 45 minutes to 1 hour with snow and icy road conditions. Our host, Shannon, was very friendly and responded to all emails quickly. Our only complaint whatsoever is the lack of internet or local phone service which we were fully aware of when we booked. Since the cell phone reception is not very good, it was quite a challenge to arrange activities or do any kind of internet related work.
Beautiful cabin, the pictures do not do it justice. The cabin is very cozy and has a great homey feel to it. It is close enough to easily make day trips to Breckenridge (under 30 minutes away). You are high up, over 11,000 ft so that is something to keep in mind. Other than that it was a great stay!
This is a wonderful, clean, well designed cabin with all the amenities of home. I wish I could have stayed longer but it was perfect for relaxing in a beautiful mountain environment in a spacious, classic Colorado mountain cabin. Strongly recommend staying here !!!!!!
Our experience at the Chalet was amazing. The cabin is beautiful inside. I couldn't dream of a better cabin, there's so much thought put into each room. Shanon and her husband are great hosts. A pipe burst when we arrive due to -35 degree whether a few nights before (not their fault, many other cabins had the same problem). He husband and a friend drove 2+ hours out of the way to come to the cabin and fix it that day.
You immediately feel at home at the cabin and they dummy proof it with labeling and easy instructions so that you can enjoy the cabin to the fullest.
If you're concerned about the distance from the mountains, don't be. The reward of staying at such a peaceful and beautiful place compared to a hotel or crowded condo greatly outweighs the extra little drive.
Bonus: Fairplay is a cool little town (check out The Brown Burrow Cafe) and we saw a beautiful snow rabbit hopping along the road at night.
Shannon and Tim are a lovely friendly couple. We really enjoyed meeting them and we would be very happy to host them again.
