I'm a scientist from Scotland. I travel a lot for work, and try to explore a little bit around the edges if I have time! The only continents I've never been to are South America and Antarctica, but I'd get the next flight if I could find a reason to go (and someone to pay for it!). My favourite trip so far has been a camping trip through Namibia. Although I can struggle on in French and German, I'm fluent only in English.
I spend a lot of time away from home; about 4 months a year. When I am at home, I like to play badminton and practise martial arts. While travelling I like to eat new foods and explore interesting places. If I get the chance to go kayaking or canoeing, that's pretty good too.
My most essential travel accessories are Bose noise-cancelling headphones and a Kindle. They just about make economy-class long haul bearable.
