Location. Location. Location! I enjoyed my stay here. It was big enough just for two. Subways are two blocks away. Every restaurant I love is within half a mile radius. Phillip was easy to contact and responded quickly when our other airbnb reservation was cancelled a day before our trip.
The reservation was canceled 113 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Great communication and stay was exactly as advertised -- very happy and great spot.
This apartment was a breeze. It is in a great neighborhood that is close to anything you would need. Entrance to the apartment is easy and convenient. This isn't some fancy place you want to have friends over for diner, but it was exactly what we were looking for, a comfortable place to crash at night. He had everything a single or couple would need. For the price, it beats any NYC hotel and then some. Thanks for letting us use your space Phillip, we plan on coming back.
Another terrific stay @ Phillip's place. Phillip is a great communicator. The apartment is the right size in a great location. We'll definitely be back.
I had an awesome time at Phillip's apartment! It was very clean, in a convenient location, and an overall comfortable space. It had everything I needed for a week-long stay.
Phillip was also very easy to get in touch with and made sure that I had everything I needed before, during, and after my trip. I would highly recommend staying at his place to anyone visiting NYC!
Phillip was very quick to respond to any messages throughout the entire process. In his absence he arranged for Marlon to meet us at the apartment with keys and instructions. Phillip was also flexible with a later checkout for us which helped us enormously.
The apartment is comfortable and in the BEST location. Everything is at your doorstep. Cafe Gitane, Cafe Habana around the corner, Little Cupcake Bakery, subway stations - just a short stroll, shopping, bars .... you name it.
The only thing to consider if you are not used to apartment living is the noise from other apartments. I'm sure this is very common in NYC. We found that some earplugs purchased at the local CVS/Pharmacy did the trick and we managed to get some good sleep after this.
A fantastic neighbourhood. We felt totally safe the whole time.

We would definitely recommend this place to everyone seeking for the best of the ny city experience. The location in perfect, Mott st. is the heart of the most delightful and charming neighbourhoods of Manhattan. The flat is comfortable and cozy, with a clean an fully equipped bathroom and open kitchen/living room, the bedroom is nice and spacious. We arrived a little earlier than expected and Phill was already waiting for us, he was very kind and help us with all our requests. We had a fantastic time while staying there and we would love to return in the future.
My boyfriend and I stayed at Phillip's apartment for a week while visiting friends in NYC. Phillip was so nice & helpful. Everything went according to plan. Check in process was smooth, he met up with us and showed us where everything was in the apartment and any other info we needed to know. His apartment is so nice and cozy. Spacious, comfortable, & the decor and lighting were amazing. The apartment Is exactly as shown in the pictures. Phillip's place is in a great location surrounded by tons of shopping, cafés, bars, and grocery stores. The subway is very accessible and there are multiple stations within walking distance of the apartment. Literally the only issue we had with the whole experience was a minor leak in the bathroom sink that we dealt with easily by putting a towel down on the floor. Everything else was perfect, it was a great experience and I highly suggest staying at Phillips place. We would definitely stay there again.
I am so excited to write this review!!! Phillip was such a DELIGHT to have stay. Not only was he super respectful of our home leaving it spotless , but it was a pleasure to get to know him. He is kind , warm and fun to hang out with ...an all around great guy! Such a great Airbnb experience...we hope to have him back SOON.
You couldn't find a better place to stay for the perfect time in New York, or rent from a better guy. Right in the heart of Nolita, it's surrounded by more shopping, dining and eye candy than you can possibly imagine. We've been friends for a long time and I couldn't recommend him or his place more. try it , I think you will definitely like it.
My husband and l are from Melbourne Australia and we stayed in Phillip's apartment Oct.2011 for eight nights. After being cancelled twice by other owners, 5 days before travel, we were lucky enough to secure this absoulutely wonderful apt. in Mott St. The neighbourhood is simply the best, authentically NYC..apt.'s, galleries, coffee shops, supermarkets, subways close, everything and more that you could possibly need.. and want. We even found an Aussie Bar in the next street to watch the Grand Final. (magic) The apartment is perfect for a NYC stay..Bed was magnificent, there is an air conditioner, everything you need in the kitchen and a great shower. Another plus is that it is only one very short flight of stairs up. Phillip was a blessing. He was contactable, he was waiting for us when we arrived - patiently, as shuttle buses can turn out to be lenghthy rides! He allowed us to store our luggage until our departure (which was after 11am) and he arrived on time to inspect the apartment and refund us the deposit..We had NO problems at all. We also liked and trusted Phillip very much, As we were cancelled twice, we were very apprehensive, but he assured us he would NOT cancel and of course he didn't. We loved his cooler than cool apt. exploring Soho and being so accessible to everything in NYC. We plan another trip 2013 and hope that Phillip's apt. is available.
Phillip's the best! I’ve been friends with him for over ten years now, and I can’t recommend him enough as a home renter, photographer, friend—you name it. He’s the always-got-your-back guy: dependable, smart, outgoing, helpful, creative, funny. And his apartment is one of those perfect NYC places you'd never let go of because it has everything you want: Just the right amount of space that’s clean, quiet, cool and homey, designed with his eye and art. And it’s in one of *the* cutest areas in the city, perfect for strolling around the cafes, galleries and shops and at the heart of some other amazing neighborhoods and a few subway stop hubs. Basically, Phillip is great and his place is the perfect home base for a fab, fun New York stay.
I've house-sat a night or two in Phillip's smart apartment. It's in the coolest neighborhood the city has to offer as far as I'm concerned. There's so very much to do and see right outside the front door. The best shopping, crazy-delicious eats, fun watering holes – one doesn’t really need to venture far and it’s close to SO many subways if you do. His apartment exhibits his hip NYC aesthetic in everything from decor to furnishing choice to art and general atmosphere. It's totally cozy with all the comforts one needs in a home. From the chunky shelving and naturally lit bedroom to the gorgeous photography and large dreamed-of-in-NYC tub: you'll remember it fondly.
I've known Phillip for about 10 years. I was his art director and then we became good friends because we had similar interests and it was just easy to be around him. He's a decent, honest and loyal AND hard working guy, and I'd have no trouble recommending him for any project or endeavor.
Phillip's adorable apartment is great for renter's wanting to attain the authentic "New York experience." Furnished with old style wood and vintage furniture, it is cozy and modest while entirely comfortable and accommodating. There is also much to look at as the walls are lined with photography and books. And of course, the apartment is perfectly located in the heart of downtown Manhattan - strategically located on an extremely quiet street, yet steps to Broadway, shopping, eating and New York bars.
I know first hand that Phillip is always concerned about the well being of his renters,; always on time, very reliable, and very clean!
I've known Phillip for 20 years. Although I have been on Airbnb longer, Phillip has been successfully renting his apartment when he travels for far longer than I have. I have learned a great deal about providing guests superior hospitality and accomodation, from seeing his approach over the years. His guests love him. They also love his very cool New York pad, which is particularly cool because they get to be surrounded by his and others' amazing photography and art. Beyond his talent for providing guests with an awesome NYC experience, he is one of the most gifted photographers anywhere. He also knows the best that New York City has to offer visitors and is a terrific source of local information.
