We are a family of 4 living in Normandie. I am interested in food as I used to be chef.
Lovely quiet location but with good access to Falaise and the Chateau and gardens at Vendeuvre, which we were visiting.
Peter and Su were wonderful hosts and great company.
The rooms are very comfortable and the food excellent (we had the Friday night gourmet meal).
We're now trying to plan another trip that gives us the excuse to visit La Vieille Ferme again!
We had a lovely stay here, meeting many interesting people who were also passing through. The comfortable accommodations were just as described, and our hosts were very helpful and welcoming. We had tasty breakfasts and really enjoyed a delicious dinner one evening. The food was wonderful . I would definitely recommend staying here for a relaxing, countryside experience.
Our family spent a week in two of their rooms while we traveled the Normandy area. Peter and Su were excellent hosts, were funny, and genuinely friendly and enjoyable to talk to while we were at the house. The rooms were rustic and clean. The farmhouse has a unique charm. The kids loved visiting the farm animals (they looked forward to returning to the day just to visit the Genuea Pigs). Peter is also an EXCELLENT cook--we enjoyed a number of dinners he prepared and they were all wonderful. Not speaking any French, this was an excellent opportunity to enjoy a gourmet dinners without worrying about trying to figure out a menu (or ordering the wrong thing) at a local restaurant. From the farmhouse you can drive a little short of an hour to get to Bayeux. From there most of the beach is just another 15-20 minutes. Despite the rain (which never seemed to end) this has been our favorite Airbnb vacation so far!
A fabulous place and Su and Peter were extremely friendly hosts during our entire stay. The place is also perfectly located for day trips all around Normandy including Mont St Michel, Cotentin peninsula (very much worth the visit), D-Day locations and much more. Since Peter's dinners are exquisite, it is possible to just enjoy the sights during the day and then return to the farm for dinner and sleep. No need to spend time wondering where to eat. Dinners also offer an opportunity to meet other guests from around the world. One our next trip, we will certainly stay here again.
Staying with Peter and Su at La Vielle Ferme was a fabulous way to experience Normandy. The stone farm house and barns were so characteristic of the countyside, and it was so cool to be able to actually "live" in one of those farms. Since my husband and I were there to soak up the WWII history, we almost expected an Allied soldier to appear from the barn. Surely many of our troops were hidden by the French throughout this countryside. Peter and Su have done a terrific job in making their space comfortable...room with modern bath was great....but all of this is really secondary to the great comraderie that is achieved through the gourmet meals prepared and served by Peter and Su. They prepared a special meal for our anniversary and the other guests toasted us. This is an experience I will never forget.
They also gave us a lot of advice on our day trips, and helped us get to our train for Paris.
My husband and I stayed at Peter and Sue's BnB in August this year and enjoyed the friendly and warm and relaxed atmosphere that Peter and Sue have created for their guests in the lovely old farmhouse. They are great hosts. Our bed room was very comfortable and spacious. Breakfast with home made yoghurt was a treat. We highly recommend the delicious evening dinners, cooked by Peter, after a long day out site seeing. It was very nice to simply walk downstairs to wine and dine. We looked forward to meeting the other guests at dinner, sharing travel experiences around the dining table. Would love to return again one day!
Great house with plenty of character. Warm hospitality from the hosts. Highlight was he food, Peter is a talent in the kitchen. Would recommend.
We had a one night stay on our way through but found it very comfortable and we had a delightful dinner which was also very good value for money.
Rooms were spacious, very clean and with ensuites and there is plenty of space both inside and outside for relaxing and parking.
We had a good time here! Kids loved it. Food was very good and made with passion. Nice way to meet other guests by eating all at one big table.
That was just so perfect ! Very nice place, animals, very nice spacious room for three, the people were so nice and we really enjoyed our stay. If we are around once again, we will go at La vieille Ferme FOR SURE !
We have booked the Table d'Hote diner and that was very very good. Cocktail included. Thanks to Peter for cooking us this wonderfull meal !
Thank you Peter and Sue ! that was our most amazing stay for our first trip to Europe.
We have stayed and worked with Peter and Su for one month during last summer.
After this wonderful experience we can asure you that from a guest point of view you can't choose a better stay than La Veille Ferme in this beautiful region of France.
They are superb located in a charming French village near the beautiful town of Falaise.
It is a great location to explore all the historical sites of "D-Day" and other WW museums, Peter and Su are more than happy to help you plan your trips.
Last but not least we surely recommend you to taste and enjoy the marvelous cookingskills of Peter, by enjoying a "table d'hôte" !
I stayed at La Vielle Ferme a couple of weeks ago as I drove through Normandy. Sue and Peter were lovely hosts, the rooms were large and comfortable, and their farmhouse perfectly charming. I especially liked the duck that wandered the courtyard in the mornings.
Make sure to take down detailed driving directions before you go.
