My bff and I had a great West Marin getaway here. The garden and creek were lovely. I am glad I read the reviews and so was prepared for the bar noise next door. Aside from that everything else was peaceful and everyone was friendly. I got in a little early and Dave greeted me warmly. I'd love to stay again!
Very sweet little pad off the beaten track in Marin. Very tidy studio with lovely, shady private patio, perched on the bank of a burbling creek. The sound of the water at night was so relaxing! Didn't get a chance to drink in the saloon but next time (because there will be a next time), I most certainly will! The owner/managers were super mellow, there is a good coffee spot down the road a mile...all in all, perfect for what we needed, a couple quiet nights and a base for exploring central Marin.
We loved the cosy little garden patio above the creek. Very snug little place to stay for a home base from which to travel around Point (website hidden) was a little noisy, but it didn't keep us awake at all. I would strongly recommend this place! :)
The listing was accurate except it should also add that it is noisy evenings and nights- at least for Fri and Sats. It was hard to tell where some of the noise came from, upstairs tenants and or saloon attached in back. The thumping of the jukebox kept me awake until?
I was really needing a quiet place and it isn't.
The house is just as it described. It is one room with a bed and a couple of chairs. The kitchen area as a refrigerator, sink, kettle, coffee maker, and toaster. The house has cups, plates, towels, etc. The heater heats up the room quickly since it is a small room.
Before reaching, the host provided us their contact information and necessary information to get in, park the car, etc.
On Friday night, the noise from the nearby bar was slightly loud, especially for light sleepers.
We were able to hear the flowing water from the room when the windows were open, which was great.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for out 1 yr anniversary and we found the Hideaway to be great! It looks just like the pictures, with flowers blooming everywhere, a very comfortable bed, and the peaceful creek right there. It did get a little loud Friday night because of the bar nearby, but the bartender kindly offered to turn the music down, knowing we were there. Honestly, we were so exhausted from all the hiking we did that the music didn't bother us much.
The location itself is very convenient to Point Reyes activities, as well as pretty close to Fairfax, which is very quaint and has a lot of different little restaurants and cute shops along a main strip maybe 15 minutes away from the room. We spent the two days we were there mostly hiking along in Point Reyes, where we saw elk, coyotes, and a ton of different birds, notably turkey vultures and red tailed hawks. We also saw a lot of quail. And we've heard there may be badgers in the area, although we didn't encounter any on our hikes. In the evenings we read or walked around Fairfax.
One thing I would have liked is a table where we could play cards, but the tables outdoors or inside the place were pretty small and not suitable for board games, so that was the only bummer for us. Other than that though everything was great!
Overall we enjoyed ourselves very much, and the Hideaway was a great launchpad for a ton of activities, and a restful place to come back to at night!
This place was awesome Dave and Jarrod both great guys downstairs. The place was amazing really relaxed room. Went down to two birds cafe and she'll beach the area was beautiful
Great atmosphere over a creek & perfectly situated on the road to Point Reyes. Hosts are kind & generous & offer a wonderful escape to the wilds of Marin. One night there was an earthquake, but the cabin just swayed, & my motorcycle, parked out front, remained unaffected. The deck & garden are nicely maintained & atmospheric.
The Hideaway was a great location for hiking in Point Reyes Natl Park---it was about a 15-20 minute drive from the park. The place is very small, but it worked fine for us, since we were mostly outside, and we ate our meals on the patio. Thomasina was easy to get in touch with.
Our only complaint was that the music from the Saloon kept us up until 2 am on Friday night. Aside from that one night, it was very quiet.
