Upfront, honest, direct. Like nice things and good food but not pretentious. Art theater, food, swimming, people are favoriyte subjects. The Cleveland Internationl Film Festival is my favorite even of the year.

Our host was great! Took time to find out what our weekend plans were and helped us with advice etc. The location was great. It was an easy walk to a grocery store, various breweries and shops. It was only a $10 cab ride into the city. The room was very spacious and clean. It was a nice, relaxed environment. We felt like we were visiting a friend. The breakfast on Sunday morning was wonderful-items picked up from the local farmers market! Great conversation while eating and a good start to our day! The pets, Wesley and Sherlock, are very friendly and we enjoyed interacting with them while away from our own pets! We would highly recommend this renter and room.
James is a great host and I really enjoyed my time staying at Clifford House. He made me and other guests who were staying there extremely welcome and the room was great: clean, lots of space and a wonderful place to come back to after a day out exploring Cleveland. The house is lovely and is even mentioned on the Cleveland trolley tour as an important house in the story of Ohio City! The local area is the best neighbourhood in Cleveland for brewpubs and restaurants. and has a fascinating historic market. I would heartily recommend staying with James at Clifford House!
We were greeted at the door and shown around the space.
I've been hosted by a very kind person, so kind that he might propose you to drive you to your destination in Cleveland (il he goes in same direction). James is very funny and very very very welcoming. I was in Cleveland for professional reasons: I've never beed disturbed by anyone in my big and calm room with its own bathroom. I've been thrilled by James and his service goy (called Hollywood). If the house is 30 minutes' walk from downtown, it is located in a great area: shops, restaurants : every thing is close;-) Enjoy you stay and say hello to James on my part!
James was an outstanding host. He met us as soon as we pulled up to the house. The desciption and the pics of house were spot on...actually, it looks even better in person. The neighborhood was great...walking distance to some of the best eateries in Cleveland! My brother and I had a convention in downtown Cleveland and it literally took 5 minutes to get to. There's even a grocery store around the corner! Would definitley come back to stay! Thanks James!
Jim was a very helpful host! Having to leave very early one morning, he provided us with all we needed to make breakfast ourselves. The accommodation is nicely decorated and comfortable. Spotlessly clean. The location is perfect; many options to eat and drink within walking distance. Would definitely stay again.
James' place is beautiful. This is a legitimate bed and breakfast and James actually coordinated with us and another couple that was staying in the other room to have breakfast at the same time, which he made himself with a number of delicious local ingredients (along with coffee, an assortment of teas, orange juice and a giant bowl of fruit). The house is old in a stately way and the room itself is gorgeous. The bed is very comfortable and we thoroughly enjoyed our time here.
It should also be noted that the Ohio City neighborhood is the place to be in Cleveland and James' place is only a few blocks from a number of top notch restaurants and breweries (including Great Lakes Brewing Company and Garden Market Brewery). We would definitely stay here again the next time we're in Cleveland.
I was very pleased to stay here. It was very clean spacious and cosy. My room was quiet big and the decor was exquisite. The host Jim, was also very nice and welcoming, he made great breakfast for the guest every morning and we all sat around the table to eat. This created a good feel of community at the bnb and it was very nice!
Great experience. Stayed two nights in the apartment suite with our teenage sons. Breakfast was top notch with fresh sausage, bacon, and fruits from Westside market. Homemade pancakes and fabulous coffee. Looking forward to a return visit the next time we travel to Cleveland.
Though I ask for a bedroom with a short notice to visit the excellent Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, I was lucky to be accepted by our host very quickly despite the late hour. We were received very well and take advantage of his many advices about the overall city, and more particularly about the nice street near his house.
He is very friendly and considerate. His house is a lovely place and nothing is missing to have a good stay.
Highly recommended (and what a great breakfast !).
