Grew up in the American Midwest, and graduated from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign for Computer Science. Played cello 11 years. I've lived around the US for different internships, in Colorado Springs, Santa Cruz, Pittsburgh, and San Jose.
Spent 1 year as a Japanese schoolgirl in Kobe/Osaka, Japan, living with host families, becoming proficient in 日本語 and generally experiencing crazy awesome culture shock and falling in love with takoyaki, Oguri Shun, and realizing that I'm 粒あん派.
Spent a semester of college in Lund, Sweden, which is one of the best student towns I have ever seen. Spent all my time fika-ing and going to clubs and dancing to Robyn. I also traveled Europe a bit too: Copenhagen, Barcelona, Amsterdam, Tallinn, and of course, Stockholm and Göteborg!! (Yay, Sweden!)
About to move to San Francisco to start work at (website hidden) (eeee!!!) Spent the past ~1.5 months hanging out in Philly, New York, Hong Kong, and Singapore, to see old friends, make new ones, and explore the world.
My approach to life is generally to point my nose in the direction of the most fun. I thrive on novelty. I like to go places for longer periods of time and really soak in the new culture if at all possible, rather than short trips. I'm obsessed with music (mostly scandinavian electronic, but other genres as well), am always looking for good nightlife in cities I visit, and go clubbing as a crossover party / anthropological excursion.
