From Istanbul, enjoying mtb, snowboard, kitesurf and the killers.
Staying at Bilgehan's apartment was a brilliant choice. It is located at a fantastic neighborhood, so close to the center, very clean, safe and stylish! The apartment is even better than the photos and we loved the decoration. It is equipped with all the electronic devices and everything someone might need during their vacation. The couch is very very comfortable but the bed was unbelievable. We loved it, it was like sleeping in a cloud! There was always hot water and even though it was cold outside, the apartment was warm.
The hosts were very friendly, helpful and responsive, and arranged an early check in for us. They showed us how the devices work and were available to give us tips for our trip.
No complaints at all, although we'd love some chalk for the blackboard ;)
We would definetely stay again at the apartment next time we visit Istanbul and recommend it to other travellers.
This is a wonderful, cozy apartment in a great neighborhood. My boyfriend and I visited from Los Angeles for ten days December and loved the location. Within a few blocks are some of the best cafes, restaurants, and design stores in Istanbul.
The living area is just as it looks in the photos. Great balcony with a view of the Bosphorus. Comfortable couch, TV with cable (although not very many English channels), WiFi, stereo with an aux hookup for your phone, iPad, etc. I was a big fan of the blackboard paint that they have on the wall and wished they had left some chalk. :)
The kitchen is stocked with everything you need for cooking meals and making coffee (Turkish or french press) or tea.
The bathroom is small but there's plenty of storage and counter space. There's also a nice hair dryer, which was a pleasant surprise. There is a washer/dryer combo in the bathroom which we had some difficulty figuring out, but I'm sure Bilgehan would have explained had we asked for further instruction.
The bedroom was very comfortable with two separate reading lamps on either side of the bed. One side of the bed is more firm than the other (by design), which we were thrilled about but might not be for everyone. My only small complaint was not having a dresser or closet. There were three hangers that we could use to hang a few things above a doorway, but that was it.
Bilgehan is friendly, responsive, and checked in with us a couple times during our stay to make sure everything was going well. He also arranged for a friend of his to walk us from Taksim to the apartment the evening we arrived since he was out of town and we were unfamiliar with the area.
Overall I really enjoyed this apartment and would recommend to single travelers or couples who enjoy walking and exploring the many hip cafes, bars, restaurants, and shops Cihangir and the surrounding neighborhoods have to offer.
