My sister and I had a lovely stay in George's cosy Clinton Hill studio. His place is exactly as described - a typical NY apartment in a fantastic Brooklyn neighborhood, and steps away from the subway. George was also very easy to deal with, very communicative, and was easy-going when our cab driver made us late for check in. Would definitely recommend - thanks George!
+ 30 m to a subway station (handy to travel to Manhatten and JFK)
+ safe neighbourhood
+ enough space for two adults (bed and sofa)
+ lots of food places nearby
+ food market 5 min away
+ big TV and wi-fi available
George was a good host, communicative and ready to help or answer questions as for logistics in the city and others. Location of apartment is just 2 min from metro station. Till the center train took 40 min (direct line). Flat is OK for 2 people max, but no place for storing clothes and other things ( that was really uncomfortable).
George was a receptive and helpful host. The home is quite cozy and warm at an amazing location with a subway stop about a quarter block away. Even though it's easy and convenient to travel out of the neighborhood, there are a variety of restaurants and cafes nearby, and the area invites exploring. I would definitely stay at George's home in the future. I would say though, the apartment is probably not large enough for 4 guests.
George is a great host! He is very easy to communicate with. He answered all the questions we had before arriving, he was there himself to hand over the keys when we arrived and he was available for questions during our stay.
The appartment is a good size for two people. It was clean and fresh. The location is great! The subway is just outside the door and there are many great areas within walking distance if you want to explore Brooklyn.
The only negative thing: Temperature in the appartment was a bit too high at times. However, there are two electric fans to help cool it down.
All in all, we had a great stay and we can definitely recommend booking with George!
Perfect place for visiting NYC. Two can stay comfortably but up to 4 can sleep. The place is clean, the host was on time and accommodating: late check-in, no problem! What's most important, the place is conveniently located half the way between Manhattan and JFK, and really, really close to the metro, which is essential. Will book it again, would recommend to others.
I stayed at Georges small studio apt with 3 other people for 16 days. We were disappointed when we arrived and found his listing was actually quite misleading as it has no mention of it being a small studio at all! It also says that it accommodates 4, but it is only really suitable for MAXIMUM of 2 people unless you don't mind cluttered and confined spaces! The bed and sofa bed that are available are also quite small so not the best for sharing. However despite the small space George also didn't remove his personal belongings from the closets, drawers and shelf space leaving us with even less space to make ourselves at home so we had to move things about to create more space for ourselves.
The apt was dusty with old food in the fridge so we had some cleaning to do before we settled down! It lacked basic provisions you would expect from a "hotel style" apt such as clean towels, fresh bed linen for both beds and toilet tissue etc. it was also uncomfortably hot through the summer despite having a very noisy air con which was pretty much ineffective.
We only met George once on arrival but then he "claimed" he would be out of town for the rest of the duration and therefore he was not available to provide us with anything else, and even when there was an issue in the apt we did not manage to get in contact with him. We were further surprised that he didn't even make it back to collect the keys at the end of our stay so we just left in his post box for him at his request.
I actually discovered later that he was still in town for at least part of the time when I bumped into him coming into the apt building to check his mail (I must admit he seemed a little uncomfortable with the fact that he had been spotted!)
The general apt building was very old and unkept with open bins outside and although you could consider the inside of the apartment as "cosy" with OK decor it was just not very practical for guests due to the space and arrangement overall.
If you just need a no frills place to lay your head for a few days, without any interference from the owner then this apt could be ok. It is very convenient that it is right next to the subway and has many great 24hrs and organic shops close by. However if you expect anything more than this you may be disappointed.
George's apartment was beautiful. It was lovely quiet and fully stocked for everything one could need in the kitchen, bathroom, and bed. The location is also excellent right near great food and the subway. Can't wait to stay there again!
we had a lovely stay at george's studio
We had a great time during our stay in NYC. George was a great host. The key exchange was uncomplicated and our stay was very pleasant. The front of the building is an easy stones-throw from the subway, which made getting to Manhattan a breeze. George also provided a lot of great local recommendations for food and entertainment, which was really helpful. Go to Sushi Tatsu and get the lettuce wraps - so delicious!
Dont forget the plumber
George's place is ideally located near some of the great restaurants and bars in Ft. Greene/Clinton Hill, one of the best neighborhoods in Brooklyn. It is just steps away from the train and close to Manhattan for those seeking to sight see. The studio is well designed, clean, and just plain cozy! If you are looking for an economical, clean and convenient way to check out Brooklyn and the other boroughs, this is a great place.
