Me and my family are from Boston and we are here to rent out our vacation house in NH that has been with us for many years.
The house is as shown by the pictures. The outside of the house is little bit more impressive than then interior, which is nothing too fancy.
As already mentioned by others, the house is rather remote, on a dead end street up the hill. In our case it did not snow, but if there would be new (stronger) snowfall I would be afraid to reach the place. Not sure how well the street plowing works.
What is really nice is that on a sunny day the sun really shines into the house and with the big windows makes a very bright nice feeling.
What might also be important is that one of the "bedrooms" upstairs is really within a huge area on the second floor. In order to get to the bathroom and other bedroom upstairs you have to cross though this one. Furthermore, there is a hole in the ceiling for the oven, which connects to the downstairs living room. So when the parties are not too intimate it might be akward not to have a really separate room to sleep. In our case that was really no big deal. Though that hole in the ceiling, most of the heat from the wooden oven (which was really working great!) also goes upstairs, making that room pretty hot.
Overall, though the house is really nice and makes for a good getaway.
The house is very nice and comfortable. There is a lot of light, the house is well heated and beds are comfy. Cross country trails are very convenient to the house. The wi-fi was a bit slow but decent enough and it has a nice TV with basic Dish service. The house is tad bit far from Jackson center and the restaurants there, but not a big deal at all and once you've done the trip a couple of times it seems to go faster.
We found it hard to find the house at night given the map and instructions provided by Tom. The map seems to be drawn incorrectly and the street names are wrong -- most likely recently changed.
We were very disappointed that the jacuzzi was buried in about 4 feet of snow and felt that it bordered on false advertising. Likewise the entrance to the house needed shoveling and we almost couldn't access the area where the passcoded key is stored.
Finally, the bed rooms should have blinds in case you want to sleep late. It was super bright in the morning.
the house is great, in the middle of a lovely landscape and nice view. tom was very responsive and helpful via email prior to our trip, which we really appreciated. the only reason why we are giving 4 instead of 5 stars here is that we found the price for 6 people a bit high, given that the house is not in the super-best condition (furniture, cleaniless). but it totally served the purpose and we had a great, cosy stay and want to say thank you!
We had a very pleasant stay at this great house in Jackson, New Hampshire and I can highly recommend this place for your stay in New Hampshire. We did not have difficulty in finding this place, but we took the advice of Tom of arriving during daytime. The house is perfect remotely located, however not far from Jackson, North Conway or the entrance to Mount Washington. The pictures are exactly as in real life. The house has a lot of space and was very clean, the beds were very good. It has a wonderful deck with great view on the mountains, the jacuzzi was great. Tom was very helpful with some questions and directions. I highly recommend this house for a stay in the White Moutains, we had a great time.
We were a party of 2 couples who spent a long weekend in September’13 at Tom’s place at this gorgeous location. The house is exactly as depicted in the pictures and the highlight is the outdoor hottub where we spent every single day relaxing in. It’s located in a quiet area in the woods and you may want to get the directions from Tom before hand as gps doesn’t recognize the address and the area doesn’t have a great cell phone reception incase you are stranded somewhere and want to reach Tom. Also, when inside the house, the best place to get cellphone reception is to stand close to the hottub or walk to the end of the street(only a 2 minute walk). The house was clean and well kept. The kitchen was well equipped and had everything we wanted. The exterior of the house is beautifully done with stones and redwood with a large deck outside. The owner, we were told is an architect who designed the house himself. There’s a very beautiful waterfall about 3 miles from the house which is a beautiful place to go to in Summer. Don’t miss it. Tom was very prompt with his replies and the best way to reach him is through emails via airbnb. Loved it and would go there again!
Tom's place is lovely and while we didn't meet him, he was very helpful. Mellon Road in the directions, is actually Meloon Road I'd you're having trouble finding it on a map.
My husband and I stayed at the cabin, with friends, for two nights in July. During the planning stages of the trip, Tom was very helpful. He provided directions to the cabin, which were perfectly adequate.
All of our party agreed that the cabin was a great choice for our weekend break. It was very comfortable and spacious. The location of the cabin was perfect for our needs... only a short drive to the base of Mount Washington. It is also not too far from local shops and restaurants.
I don't have anything negative to say about the cabin. We were expecting a clean, comfortable, homey environment... and that's what we got. We all agreed that we could have stayed several weeks and have been quite comfortable. The only comment I would make to Tom is that the fridge/ freezer could do with being emptied out. The hot tub was fantastic after a day's hike. We would most certainly stay again. I imagine the cabin would be a good place to stay in all seasons. I would especially like to return in the fall/ winter and make use of the lovely stove in the living room.
The house wasn't the best house I've stayed in. It was messy and felt a little too lived in for my taste. Lots of chotchkies around the house, stacks of VHS tapes and dead lady bugs in the corners. There was also a lot of old rotten food left in the fridge. No recycling options either. The kitchen was a 2 star kitchen at best. Tom's directions were a little wonky, but we got there. Mileage indicators would have helped in the backcountry. After our booking was confirmed, the itinerary was a little thin. We had to keep asking for things like directions and where the key was. There are a couple of neighbors, so it's not as remote as you might think. The furniture could use an upgrade, especially the lounge chairs.
That said, Tom was super nice and overall responsive. The best way to get him is through Airbnb. The location is very mountainous and close to hiking trails and Mount Washington. Free WiFi and nice fireplace. It's not too expensive and in a really pretty area. I bet this place really shines in the summer. It has a huge deck that probably makes the house seem way more open.
Tom's house is lovely and tucked away on a mountain road. The bedrooms are spacious and the location was just great for skiing and snowshoeing. There was plenty of wood for the stove which was just great. The kitchen was a bit under-equipted if you like to cook as we do, so I would advise bringing a good chef knife, pans, etc.
We were disappointed with a few things that we felt should have been taken care of. The driveway to the house was not plowed and we had to shovel the pathway and stairs to enter the house.
Other than that we really enjoyed our stay at Toms and Jackson NH.
We rented Tom's place for five days over New Years and it was great. Tom patiently waited while we drove up in a snowstorm to give us the keys and show us the space. The house was as it appears in the pictures and fit the five of us comfortably.
The house is filled with a host of older cozy furniture and blankets (perfect for relaxing by the wood stove) and it is secluded while also being near to restaurants, stores and other amenities. Tom left a large amount of firewood in a dry area which was sufficient to heat the house for the entire time we were there. There are two true bedrooms with doors. The third bed is in a larger second-floor area that has a seating area and room for others to sleep on an air mattress (provided) or couch.
We spent most of our time in the house and I definitely recommend it for travelers in the north country.
