We had such a wonderful time. They were wonderful hostesses and we had everything we needed at our finger tips. It was peaceful and they were helpful when needed. The cabin was the perfect size. We will be going back.
My friend and I were in town for a wedding so unfortunately we didn't have as much time to really enjoy this relaxing retreat. Sandy and her daughter were wonderful hosts -- understanding when our travel plans were delayed and we ended up not arriving until midnight -- and always available by text or phone to answer any questions.
Thanks for a fantastic weekend!
You are so welcome. We look forward to your next visit !
We had a girls weekend at Sandy's cabin. It was the perfect retreat only 45 minutes from Charlottesville. We brought floats and spent most of the weekend in the pond which is really clean, has a great dock and a rope swing. We enjoyed the steam shower and Jacuzzi. Sandy and her daughter live in a trailer on the property that is about a three minute walk from the cabin, but they kept to themselves the whole weekend and were really quick to respond to any inquiries. The house has everything you need for a comfortable weekend away! We are definitely coming back.
My friends and I stayed at Sandy's Wooded Retreat for a wekend and could not have had a better time. Her place is very nice and cozy with everything you would need for a getaway. we bbq'd with charcoal provided and he atmosphere at night was amazing. we left feling very relaxed, even for our 7 bour drive home on Sunday. Sandy was very quick with communication and her kids were very nice and accomodating as we met them there when we first arrived at the property. The cabin is really hidden, so be prepared for some off roading. We are very happy with our choice to stay at Sandy's and would not hesitate to stay there again.
This was a great experience, our family total 6 adults 1 baby had another vacation weekend canceled last minute. I found this on airbnb and got in touch with Sandy, she replied asap and within 24 hrs we were booked up for the next day. Her daughter was a big help answered all of our questions on the phone. The place was great we fished on their pond, rowed the canoe and swung into the pond with the rope.
At nights we sat by a campfire and looked at the amazing stars that were in full swing. Then had drinks and jumped into the jacuzzi.
Sandy also gave massages for a good price, shes a licensed masseuse.
Honestly we were blown away how great of a find this was, only 3 hrs from DC. We will be back in the not too distant future.
Sandy's plot of land is wonderful! It was exactly the get away from DC we were looking for. We made use of the hot tub and steam shower the entire time and loved spending time down at the pond with our pug Olive. Sandy is a great host, we highly recommend checking out her place if you want a tranquil rural setting.
If you want to get away for a few days and enjoy the peace and tranquility of the Blue Ridge mountains then this is a great spot to do so.
It is a 26 acre property surrounded by beautiful woods on all sides but with large grass areas around the house for the kids and dogs to run around. There is a very small lake with a rope swing and a canoe where my kids had hours of fun and the dogs also swam and roamed around the property. We travel with our animals so a pet friendly place is important to us.
We all enjoyed watching the stars in the hot-tub on the outside deck and cooking out on the charcoal grill.
While it feels like you are in the middle of nowhere, there is a small town with shopping, Food Lion etc just a few miles away. We used it as a base to visit all the area attractions, Natural Bridge, Monticello etc.
Sandy lives on the property but she keeps to herself if that is what the guests prefer.
We took a chance and invited her to spend some time with her and we are so glad we did. My kids enjoyed her immensely and my 7 & 9 year old called her their "best adult friend ever!"
This is great value for money and we will return many times.
Sandy is a great host! The house is clean, beautfiul and comfortable and, if you're looking to escape the city and just be away from it all, this is the place to go. If you're coming from the east, stop at the Food Lion in Lovingston on your way in so you can get everything you need for your stay. While not terribly far or inconvenient, it's not the 5 minute jog to the store city-dwellers are used to! Open the enormous windows in the great room and enjoy fresh country air throughout the house. Enjoy a glass of wine in the hot tub at night or sitting on the expansive wrap-around deck. Enjoy the company of Sandy's extremely friendly dogs & cat (kept outside). We brought our 3 little boys (ages 7 & under). This was a perfect place for them to run around and enjoy a more laid back speed. I would recommend this house to anyone who asked!
