I'd like to start off by saying I would certainly recommend staying at the ABC guestinn with Saman and his family. Upon arriving at the train station, Saman was there waiting for my friend and I with a tuk tuk ride ready to go to the guestinn. The place was clean, accurate to its description, and had the most incredible views! Saman was very accommodating when my friend and I changed our itinerary at the last minute. He helped us arrange for a ride to the train station (which was a mere 5 minute tuk tuk drive away, not even) and even helped us with the train schedule/tickets. His wife made us some lovely meals as well! All in all, the ABC guestinn made our time spent in Haputale a welcoming and enjoyable one.
Saman was quick to find us at the Haputale station and guide us to our lodgings. Many thanks for assistance for our onward journeys with train departure times and visits in the locality. The food his wife prepared was well received and a good way to start the day. thanks.
Our stay here was pleasant - directions came the day before but were sufficient to find this house overlooking a beautiful view. Our room was simple but comfortable. Wifi access was best downstairs, but that allowed us to enjoy tasty tea and to meet some of the other guests.
The place was quite ok,but being located in Haputale it is quite pricy.First we had a room with a bathroom which was quite nice.We decided to stay another night and were moved to another room much worse with shared bathroom not very clean. We agreed on a price previously with one member of the host family (who was the one who gave us the first room) and were very surprised when asked to pay different and much higher price at the end of our stay. We were accused of lying and trying to cheat on them which made our stay here the only bad experience we have had so far with Airbnb. If you decide to go to Haputale,we would recommend to stay in a different place.
Nice stayed at ABC guestinn. Just me and my friend feel a bit sorry for waking the host up in the early morning...So if you are planing to go out in the early morning(5 or 6 am), better tell the host a day before, or you might have to wake them up to help you unlock the main door at ground floor.
Good location, pictures are accurate. It's walking distance from both the bus and train station. Food was reasonably priced and was very good (especially the chop souy). The hosts are very nice folks and helped with our travel plans.
The family was very open-minded and friendly.
Dinner and breakfast were very good. There were two public balconies for the guests with a very nice view.
The public areas were very clean. But the rooms should get some new colour, enterieur - maybe a full renovation! And the blankets had no cover. They were even to cold for the temperature in Haputale.
For this price you can get nicer rooms in Sri Lanka.
We would not come back.
Was not worth the price, address was sent to us a day after we had already arrived, the only directions supplied were "five minutes from train station" and the phone number supplied was for someone in Colombo! Very frustrating for both us and the tuk-tuk driver.
ABC Guesthouse Inn is laying near the centre of Haputale, but still quiet and you have a very beautiful view to the tea fields. Our room was nice and clean. The whole family was very open minded and welcoming. We got some very good meals there, and got a free cooking course, where we learned to cook Sri Lankan food. We had a good conversation with Saman about the life in Sri Lanka. We can fully recommend to visit ABC Guesthouse Inn
