The RV was lovely and spacious (original 70s wood paneling and curtains and all!) and Wendell was extremely helpful.
It was fun to cook in the (separate) little kitchen camper, and we had all the pots etc that we needed. The land is beautiful, the other guests were sweet and Wendell was so so helpful. He even let us borrow his aquarium card (which we ended up forgetting and not using but still). A perfect weekend, I'd love to go back :)
Amazing. Peaceful. Great host.
Wendell was nice and left us the tipi all ready for us, helped us with the campfire and the outdoor shower. This the second time I've camped in his yard and I love it- definitely recommend it to everyone!
It was very great to stay at Wendell place. He is very helpfull and he made everything to make us confortable.
If you like original experience, I would definitely recommend you to stay in the Tipi or in the RV.
We really enjoyed our stay at Wendell's whimsical homestead. He was very welcoming and a lovely person to meet. Hope to make it back for a visit again some day!
It's always great to stay at Wendell's!
Staying at Wendell's is an adventure within itself! His property has so much character! If you're a lover of the outdoors, you need to stay there! The tipi was very unique to stay in and the fire pit area doubles as a cooking area for a grill. It's pretty much impossible to describe in words the experience you will have there, so just go ahead and book it now! Wendell is super chill and easy to talk to.
If you love adventures and experiences that make great stories, Wendell's homestead is definitely the place to stay. It's in a beautiful and quiet location in the mountains but it's close enough to the bus stop and there is a very well stocked gas station/convenient store down the road that has all the essentials. Even without a car, his place is relatively easy to access (we walked three miles with 100 pounds each to get there and it was a long walk but definitely an adventure!) and the kitchen is stocked with everything you would need to cook full meals. The kitchen is away from the trailer and the shower and toilet are outside, which I imagine would be rather unpleasant in the pouring rain, but it makes for a trip that doesn't get boring. Wendell is quirky and so welcoming; he made us feel so at home and shared everything we needed with us. The trailer we stayed in was simple but the bed was comfortable, there was tons of storage space, it was clean, there was also a small living area, and there's a beautiful view of the sunrise out of the bedroom window. If you have small children, this place might be hard to manage, but it's wonderful for anyone who just wants to get away. We would both highly recommend the homestead!
Ps. One thing to consider if you get cold getting out of the shower or are picky is bringing your own towels--his are thin!
Wendell was pretty busy while we were here, but he made sure we were all set and comfortable. His description of the place is pretty accurate. He let us use his passes to the Monterey Aquarium.
My friend and I were looking for a place to stay near Monterey during our Thanksgiving scuba diving trip, and we're so glad we stayed here. It's a unique place with a homey vibe, plus GOATS. We stayed here for 3 nights in the tipi, which is roomy enough for 3 or 4 people. It was a little over a 1/2 hour drive from here to Monterey. Thanks Wendell, we'll be back!!
