Everything perfectly organized, immediate response to every question. The appartment, situated in an awesome area of Manhattan, leaves enough space for a convenient stay. Have fun!
We as a family of four adults stayed in the beautiful apartment for 5 nights and we really enjoyed our time there. The apartment was tidy and clean when we first arrived and everything was as we expected from the photos on the profile. The apartment was not very spacious but well equipped.
The location of the apartment couldn't be any better, we were in the middle of the hip neighborhood Nolita which is in walking distance from other cool neighborhoods as Noho, Soho, East Village, and Little Italy
The street we lived in is a quiet street, in the apartment you rarely hear any loud noises during the night, except for the rather loud air-conditioners.
Marek was a great host. Our check-in as well as our check-out procedure was very easy and well organized. At check-out, we could even leave our luggage in the apartment during the day.
Thank you so much for making our stay in New York very enjoyable!
This apartment is in a great location, with the train station less than a minute away, and cool quirky restaurants in the surrounding streets.
There is some great shopping a couple of streets away on Broadway, and two of our favourite restaurants were Jacks Wife Freda and Cherche Midi. There were also many locations to get great coffee, the two closest being Gasoline Alley and Bowrey Coffee. Oh! There is also a Wholefoods supermarket a couple of streets away with amazing good quality produce. So, location, amazing, you're in a cool part of New York with easy access to all the touristy spots, as well as having the opportunity to explore some of the more hidden sides to the city.
The wifi was good quality and fast, and there was a lot of information about the city available for us to read.
Aesthetically, the apartment itself did leave a bit to be desired. The pictures make it look lighter and bigger than it actually is.
There was a smell that tended to take over the hallway, entrance and kitchen areas which came from the neighbouring apartment. The smell was essentially that of a litter box because of the neighbours dog.
The shower was more of a dribble of water, and if you have long hair, there is no hope of washing it. It's even hard to wash the soap off your body. It also took about 5 minutes to heat up and was either very hot or very cold.
The air conditioners were installed on the day that we arrived after we had got there, but did not work. It was not too hot so it was lucky.
The apartment is definitely not a show stopper, and wasn't really what we were expecting.
If you are after a more homey chic experience (as we were) this probably isn't the one. All in all it served a purpose for giving us a base, somewhere to sleep and get organised.
Response from Marek:
Upon hearing one of the air conditioners wasn't working I went the next day to troubleshoot. There are two working air con units in the apartment. And we're sorry about the smell, we're working on that now!
We spent 3 weeks in NYC and wanted a comfortable, clean and well located apartment with basic cooking facilities. These expectations were mostly met. This apartment was very well located in old Lower Manhattan. Close to the underground and many restaurants, some inexpensive with quality to match and others with excellent cuisine.
Marek responded promptly to our email enquiries and 'though we never met in person seemed eager to assist. He even provided a TV which is not normally in the apartment.
The apartment is on the 4th floor. No lift ! The hallways outside the apartment show their age and appear as though they have not been painted for many years. Floors in hallways are kept clean but walls dirty! The beds & bedding are comfortable and basic kitchen necessities were provided. The furniture is very rickety and there is only one old cupboard with hanging space. The table and chairs are not stable. The front bedroom window would not stay open. I let Marek know about this and he advised that the building manager would be alerted.
Overall, while there were these few short comings, the locality of this apartment is an area of NYC that friends tell us is becoming quite "trendy".
we recently stayed at the nolita house and we really liked it. the furniture is aesthetic. for us it was a home away from home. it is clean, friendly and a great location to explore nyc. marek was a very helpful host who was easy to communicate with.
Appartement très bien placé, plusieurs métros à proximité, dans un quartier très agréable, proche de nombreux lieux à visiter: sud et nord de Manhattan, Brooklyn. Commerces à proximité également.
Le logement est simple mais confortable.
Lovely apartment, nice host who was easy to communicate with, top location! Would love to stay there again, we were very happy! Thank you!!
Marek was a very helpful and accommodating host and his apartment is tidy in a great location. The front bedroom overlooks the street, so expect some noise there.
The apartment is perfectly located close to restaurants, bars, cafes, groceries and several subway stations. We (four people) liked that there's some space between the rooms and the bathroom so everybody had their space if needed. The shower could've worked better (when warm the stream was quite weak) but it did its purpose for a week. Marek was a considerate host and always answered quickly when we had questions.
The 4th floor walkup apartment is very conveniently located, less than a block from the subway, a grocery and a number of restaurants. The apartment was clean and relatively quiet, despite construction along the street outside. Marek was extremely responsive to communication and the process of picking up and relinquishing the keys was very easy. Though the kitchen and dining areas are "cozy," the bathroom is spacious by pre-war NYC standards. My wife and I particularly appreciated that our two small children could share a separate, full-size bedroom at the far end of the apartment, which allowed them to sleep without forcing us to take a vow of silence. I would definitely recommend Nolita House to friends looking to stay in SOHO.
Marek was a great guest! He communicated well in the lead up to his stay, was friendly, respectful, quiet and tidy. I would happily recommend him to other hosts!
