I took early retirement and bought an old wine makers home in a village in the Languedoc, southern France and have spent the last eighteen months renovating it.
Life is certainly different here. I miss very little but some fairly simply things I can't do without .include clean, crisp, white linen,.a cup of tea,. my laptop which enables to keep in touch with friends worldwide, my passport . and my 3 grandchildren who now live in Australia.
I love the cuisine and life style of France and am fortunate to be in an area where seafood rules! I do however miss Thai and Asian food which is hard to find here.
When travelling I think it's essential to be aware of other's space and privacy whether as a guest or host. As an host I hope you will find that I am welcoming, friendly, helpful, entertaining and knowlegeable about the area, And as a guest respectful, friendly and courteous (yes I know that sounds old fashioned but I am not). I don't really have a life motto but I do believe that everyone has their own story to tell and we should all make an effort to listen.
