I am a passionate, caring, "do-gooder" policy analyst currently living in New York. I have worked for the United Nations helping vulnerable populations in some of the world’s toughest war zones in Africa but in recent years have been fortunate to live in calmer places (Europe, US, Asia). Born in Switzerland and raised in the U.S., I have lived half of my life as an expatriate., driven by a desire to make the world a better place. I currently work at the UN Security Council on a Panel of Experts responsible for monitoring North Korea's implementation of UN sanctions. I just spent a year in DC as head of the Asia Program of the UN Institute for Peace, a US government-funded Institute in DC devoted to conflict prevention and analysis. It is housed in one of the most beautiful buildings in DC, just across from the State Department.

I believe that the more pressing the problems we face and the more daunting the world's challenges, the more important it is to keep sight of the satisfactions of life. I love so many things: exploring new countries and cultures, collecting art, urban design, architecture, punditry, theater and film, live music, playing piano and violin, haphazardly discovering new music, writing, amateur photography, underwater photography, and many outdoor and indoor sports.

As a guest, I generally have very full schedules during the day and evenings, so will not be much of an imposition. I am neat, careful and respectful.
