50+ new Dad living in Hawaii and enjoying every minute. Enjoys working with vacation rentals. Really enjoy being a Dad. What a Blessing!
Bill's place is amazing! His description of the place is "In these challenging economic times, why spend so much on an oceanfront rental when you can enjoy all the advantages of the beach on a low budget?" and I understood it as "Why spend so much money on a vacation rental if all you're going to do is sleep there?". So frankly, I thought it was just going to have the bare minimum (a bed and a bathroom). Boy, was I wrong. My room had so many amenities that more expensive BnB's don't even offer, such as a microwave, fridge, TV, electric stove, kitchen utensils, and much, much more. On top of that, the room was clean and very well maintained. At $59 per night, this was a bargain. I would definitely stay here again if it's available on my next visit to Kona.
My friend and I came to the Big Island for the first time and the first night we stayed at Bill's place. His place is amazing. It's so near white sands beach in Kona. And a short drive from the main Kona commercial area containing establishments such as Walmart, longboard brewery and some good restaurants. So worth it to stay here. Thanks Bill!
Our family of three spent a wonderfully relaxing, comfortable night in this well furnished, super clean plantation house. Located in the perfect location to explore this very low-key, but amazingly beautiful and historically interesting area. We would not hesitate to stay here again on future trips.
Great little vacation home. All new appliances and everything worked perfectly. Cute town nearby. Check out the Crystal healing lady. View at the end of the road not to be missed.
The studio we rented from Bill was very pleasant. We were happy to find cookware we could use, as well as a snorkelling mask for our use.
We never met Bill, but despite that, the check in and out process went smoothly.
The one thing that people should be aware of is that we were required to pay "tax" in cash on our arrival. It was tricky to find exact change, so we ended up leaving more money than we needed to. It would have been nice if this tax had been included in the fee we paid on Airbnb.
We arrived, but didn't met the owner. He gave us easy instructions how to get in and out to the suite. The suite is comfortable, in a calm area, close to the beaches and supermarkets (but you will probably need a car!). It has clean and the shower great. Unfortunately we spend only one night, but they have BBQ area. We definitely stay here again!
The house is a perfect place to get away and relax. The back porch and garden offers a nice place to sit and read, and stays sheltered even in the wind and rain, as I discovered. I was able to see Waipi'o lookout, hike down into the valley, and look at the local gallery all by foot (~1.5 mi to lookout), and the neighbor woman was wonderful, leaving fresh fruit on the porch!
nice little studio, pretty spacious for 2 people. liked the patio outside to sit on though we didn't spend much of our time here. everything was clean when we came in. washer/dryer worked well. studio is inside a building with 2 other studios next to it. area felt pretty safe. we were able to walk easily 5 minutes to the beach. parking was not an issue. overall, great place to stay!
Ok place to stay if you don't plan to hang out here. Clean and quiet but a little worn down.
Bill's place was just as advertised: basic, simple, good location, and very cost-effective. It is indeed a five minute walk (maybe less) to a great beach and close enough to town to get whatever you need. The AC and fan were in great shape and we made good use of the coffee maker every morning. All in all, a very affordable and convenient home-base in Kona for our adventures. Mahalo!
Bill is a great guy, a wonderful host who loves to please his guests. He reads a lot, likes to travel, he is a good cook, loves his dogs and his kids. You will enjoy him.
