50+ new Dad living in Hawaii and enjoying every minute. Enjoys working with vacation rentals. Really enjoy being a Dad. What a Blessing!
Our space was simple but fine for our needs. Good parking, location, amenities and especially helpful was receiving all instructions ahead of time (which did not happen with another space). We had a small fridge, dishes, hot plate and pans, wifi, and everything was clean. We even had AC. Good for the price!
This place offered simple accommodations at an affordable price in a convenient location. I enjoyed being near (but still away) from the main area and within walking distance to the beach. Bill made my stay very easy and straight-forward, allowing me to have a seamless and enjoyable time in Kona.
The place was as advertised. Bill was prompt and easy to deal with. Would definitely stay here again. Thanks Bill.
I made this last minute with Bill and he got back to be very quickly. He emailed me very detailed instructions along with a rental agreement, which is always a good idea for both the renter and the guest.
When I arrived I have pleased to find a clean and private room for me to spend one last night in before leaving to the airport the next morning. The room was simple, but had all the necessary amenities, and has lots of space. Once inside it feels a bit like a hotel room rather than a home.
The next morning I woke up and explored the neighborhood. The white sand beach if very close and is beautiful. The whole neighborhood is great. quiet safe, and beautiful. Like others have said, its about a 10 minute drive from the main touristy area, so thats either a good thing or bad depending on what your looking for.
This house was unavailable so Bill organised for us to stay at Bamboo Hale which was another of his places.
Bamboo Hale had everything we needed. It is spacious, comfortable and easy on the eye. It was also refreshing to spend a few days residing in a local community as it is off the beaten tourist track.
This place is also a stones throw from Waipio Valley so there is plenty to explore.
House number wasn't visible, and we weren't sure which room was ours to check in as Bill wasn't there, so it was confusing at first but we figured it out quickly. The home was located at a quiet neighborhood yet near to a couple famous beaches which we went snorkeling to. The noodles provided were a great help to our snorkeling adventure. The room was quite spacious and we had no problems with our 2 huge luggages. It was nice to have a kitchen and a fridge. Shower cubicle was a little tight. The bed may be a little too soft for some, but fortunately we slept quite well. I love the TV the most - there were so many channels till I was torn between many of them!!
A few cons: floor was a little dusty, and there were ants around the sink. When we arrived, there was no parking space for us. We also did not get the wifi password as we needed it to figure out locations of certain places.
We already stay to this location but Jeff proposed to upgrading us because we had some troubles with flights and we have not been able to enjoy our first night. Just amazing place !!!
We had an amazing time at the Hawi Plantation House! The location is unbeatable - a short walking distance to Hawi town where you will find several eateries, art galleries, and a grocery store, and a quick 10 minute drive to Pololu Valley. The house is truly beautiful with a great amount of history; and our room was comfortable, clean and inviting. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast and coffee each morning while chatting with Bill and another couple who was staying in the house. We look forward to staying again should we ever travel back through Hawi.
Response from Bill:
Guest had a problem understanding the house rules
Location, location, location!!! Since my last visit to the Big Island in February, I had forgotten where exactly the best snorkel beach was; to my VERY pleasant surprise, it was mere blocks from Bill's place. I was SOOOOO stoked about that! The bed was one of the worst ever, but everything else was great; we especially appreciated the extra linens which were available in the closet. Having stayed previously in Captain Cook, the convenience of this location was well worth the price. I would definitely recommend Bill's place to anyone visiting Kona!
The room was great, spacious and clean. It is also very close to downtown Kona, so very convenient. We heard a lot of birds!
It would have been nice to meet the host, but it just did not happen.
Bill is a great (email hidden) who loves to please his guests. He reads a lot, likes to travel, he is a good cook, loves his dogs and his kids. You will enjoy him.
