We are down to earth and neighborly people who love hosting folks that need a great temporary home in NYC such as yourself.
Come stay in Brooklyn and have a real NYC experience!
i had a great and true nyc-experience staying with lazarus in brooklyn. the neighbourhood is multicultural and diverse, and the apartment fun to stay at as you share it with other guests from around the world (your hosts live below you). i met people from russia, australia, france and israel during my stay of 6 nights (was there on holidays). there are 3 rooms and you share the kitchen and the bathroom. cleaning is not their strong side :) (don't mind the dust bunnies) and the walls are thin so you hear your neighbours. i also didn't have clean sheets and towels when i arrived, but we sorted that matter out in no time. i can recommend the place any time, if you are looking for a real nyc-experience away from the touristic manhatten area :) (it's also close to the metro and you are in the city within 15 minutes). and if you get a chance to hang a little with the hosts - take it! lazarus is a true new yorker and was helpful with any request i had. thanks again!
We stayed at the Brooklyn Guesthouse for 3 Nights this November. I have to say that the experience was one that I do not regret. The room was very bright and clean, we had clean sheets and clean towels. We didnt meet Lazarus or Anne but dealt with Marina instead, a friend of theirs who lives in the same building. She was great!!! Nice, friendly, helpful, and she could be reached whenever! The bathroom was a little dirty and the water wasnt as hot as I am used to. The windows are a little thin so if you want to sleep in, this may be a little bit of an issue. We had never been in Brooklyn before but didnt have any problems in the area, even though we came home one night at 4 am and walked the 5 blocks from the subway. I would definitely stay with them again!
Good deal, i would recommend Lazaro's place for travelers looking for a cheap please in a short stay.
It was fine. The bathroom wasn't very clean, but I didn't care, coz it was cheap. The bed wasn't the best I've used, but i didn't care, coz it was cheap. The neighbourhood was a bit sketchy, but I didn't care coz it was so incredibly cheap. The guest was quite nice, though I only saw him on my arrival. If you're extremely scrupulous about cleanliness or are thinking of spending much time at the place, go for another option. If you're an adventurer just looking for getting to know NY at a very economical price, just go for it.
Lazarus gave us a warm welcome. You had to climb two flights of stairs before you entered the apartment. The room shown on the picture was not the room we got. There were no windows and the room was completely bare. No cupboards, no bedside lamps (as suggested in the picture). Open garbage can in the living room. Dirty bathroom
Super nice guy, good location, nice neighbours...
Very nice apartment for holliday in NYC. I had no problem with the neighborhood also at night. There are a lot of shops for food. Subway is very close, only 6 minutes by foot. There is also a bus station just in front of the house. Next time I would like to come again.
Staying in Lazarus' guesthouse was such a pleasure !
Everything was nice and clean. What's more, Lazarus was very helpful.
I definitely recommend this place to stay in when visiting NYC.
Easy way to get there ( close to the subway station ), many shops around and a nice neighbourhood.
Staying in Lazarus's apartment was a really great time during our travelling around the US. The kitchen and the bathroom have a really good standard, we could use them easily and without any inconveniences. Lazarus agreed to host extra people, we could stay longer due to the hurricane Irene and he even stored our luggage for almost two weeks. Neighbourhood is really nice, plenty of groceries and other kind of shops within walking distance. You can choose between two subway lines which are nearby, both of them are going to Manhattan. Even though we heard some bad stories about Brooklyn we felt totally safe while coming back home which was usually about 10-11 p.m. The apartment is clean and modern. We were staying there for 10 nights and we saw several groups of people moving in and out constantly which approves popularity of this location:) We can honestly recommend this place, if ever in NYC again we would choose Lazarus again!
I have had the please of knowing Ann'e on a personal level for many years. She was my college roommate. You know what this means, I REALLY got to know what it was like to live with her. It's one thing to know someone, it's another thing to live with someone. She is considerate of others, is an EXCELLENT cook, goes above and beyond making others comfortable, is stylish, witty, and true to her word. I am more than confident that as Ann'e as your host, you will be welcomed with open arms and feel as if you have known her for years. A stay with her in Brooklyn will be a memory that will be fondly remembered for years!
My friends Ann'e and Lazarus are wonderful people. You would love for them to be your hosts, they will welcome you into a wonderful space and make you feel right at home. They know all they places to see and the hippest things to do. Join them in the wonderful quaint apartment on Macon Street you will be so happy you did.
Ann'e has been a great friend and business associate for years. Always solid, straightforward and giving 110% at whatever it is she sets her mind to. Expect nothing but the best quality service with a smile that's been known to stop traffic.
