We are long time friends who recently embarked upon an adventure to create a rural oasis for friends past, present and future to come for rest and tranquility in one of the most exotic and stunningly beautiful settings in North America.
"Sourdough Dave" is an award winning freelance graphic artist by trade whose work is nationally recognized. His talents in a variety of visual arts are a solid foundation for his more recent studies in the fields of geology and earth sciences, lending colorful insight to his fascinating tours of the Tecopa, Death Valley and Southern Nevada mining districts. He is a member of Nye County Gold Seekers, a fraternity of latter day prospectors, and is frequently spotted tracing the steps of early pioneers who came west to find their fortunes in the mineral rich lands around us. If you care to try your hand at panning for gold along the banks of the Amargosa River and environs, you'll find no better guide and instructor than Dave. But be warned that modern medicine has yet to find a cure for Gold Fever, and once struck you may be tempted to wander California's mountains and streams forever.
Where Dave is a master of sights and colors, Justin is a master of language arts. As actor, singer, writer, director, and teacher he has spent years working stages all over the United States. A love of public service allowed him to enjoy an avocation in politics. He was six times a candidate and three times elected to public office. He continues to teach performance technique and public speaking and still periodically hits the road with a one man show, "Give 'em Hell Harry," about US President Harry S. Truman.
We love to share a campfire yarn with other lovers of art, humanity and this vast natural wilderness. It will be an honor to host, guide and to get to know you during your stay at our rustic retreat.
