My favorite part about this apartment was the location. It is right next to the mid-levels escalators which can take you down the hill to downtown in less than 15 min. It is a short 7 min walk to the famous Lang Kwai Fong District and less than 2 min walk to a great variety of really cool bars and restaurants.
I highly recommend this apartment to anybody that wants to plan a short trip to the amazing city of Hong Kong
Stayed three nights here as a couple - it's a shared flat of three young French expats who rent out their rooms when they are gone.
+ relatively spacious for HK standards
+ quiet room
+ clean bed
+ friendly flat mates
- you won't see your host, just his flat mates
- had to wait one hour to get in even though timing had been agreed (and it was a weekend)
- there are locks but no keys for the rooms (don't ever lock them!!)
Max was not home during our stay, still, he gave us all the help and information that we may need. the apt is clean, cozy, very good located and easy to find, we had a very good time here.
The place is really nice and in a great location in Hong Kong "Soho" with lots of cafes, restaurants and cool shops - as well as LKF close by. The room was clean and the flat quite spacious by Hong Kong standards. Thank you!
We were very disappointed with the flat. My husband and I did not expect to share the flat with other guests, whilst all the hosts were abroad over the holidays. There were no locks on the bedroom doors, so the security of our belongings depended on us being lucky with who the other guests were. Maxime did not mention this once in our communications prior to arrival. When we arrived, we found the bedroom to be cluttered with Maxime's personal effects, and the living room had a very large pile of shoes. There were no changes of towels or linen for the duration of our week long stay. There were clear cleanliness issues with the flat. The shower holder was missing, with a large rusty nail sticking out of the wall. We also arrived to a single blanket for my husband and I. When we raised issues with Maxime, he took an impatient and hostile tone with us, including saying that we can leave if we don't like the place, rather than asking if there was anything he could do to make us more comfortable. He repeatedly failed to acknowledge any problems, which left us feeling exasperated. We only managed to resolve the blanket issue with his flatmate, who left two days after we arrived. All in all, Maxime did not make us feel very welcomed. That left a bit of a dark cloud over our holiday, which was intended to be a special one, as I had come to Hong Kong to spend the first Christmas with my family in 16 years.
Max was an excellent host. We landed at 4pm and Max met up with us at Starbucks (just under the apartment) at 7:(website hidden) has LONG working hours with a typical day's work from 9am - 7pm plus transit time. Thus i totally understood that he was doing his best with the late meet up. Max gave us towels and a toiletries care package to assist us with easing in upon arrival.
The room and stay was clean and as represented. All pictures correlate to what you receive. The apartment was quite spacious for Hong Kong standards with lots of creature comforts. When Max went to work, we had the place to ourselves until 8-9pm most nights which was relaxing.
SoHo is the place to be at hong kong island. It is one of the most wealthy suburbs in all of Hong Kong with rents for something like Max's apartment costing upwards of $4000 USD per month. At Max's rate, you're getting a BARGAIN and one of Hong Kong's best suburbs on your door step.
Across the road is one of the best French Patisseries in Hong Kong and down Mid-Levels are some of the best Cantonese mom-and-pop restaurants with food costing no more than $50 HKD for some local Chinese Cuisine.
Central Station is a 15 min walk. There's many mini and big busses to take you all over HK island for $10 HKD , including a bus to the train station for around $6 HKD if you don't feel like walking.
LKF night club and bar district is 5 minute walk away. Drop nightclub is literally 2 mins away and Levels is 4 minutes away. You can have a rowdy drink with your friends and walk home or catch a cab/bus to Wan Chai and continue the night until the early hours of the morning and catch a bus to your door step for $10 HKD.
I would definitely stay here again on my return trip in April as it's perfectly situated in the center of all the action and night life that Hong Kong Island can offer!
Convenient, easy to arrange, nice apartment with decent facilities. A good visit, thank you.
