We spent 3 nights here in November 2013, the villa is perfect for a family and has ample space for everyone with comfortable accommodation which is cleaned daily. The kitchen is well stocked with cutlery and crockery but lacking in appliances like toaster. The pool was well maintained and has a "martini step" for sundowners after a hot day in the sun. Several restaurants with various menu's are around the corner. We were travelling with children and found it very convenient for early breakfasts and dinners. Taxi's are close too which are more cost effective than "transport" companies and for a few dollars you can get to Kuta and other beaches with ease. As with anywhere in Bali there are various tour companies offering day trips and will collect from the villa.
The villa is in a side street a stone's throw away from the main road in Sanur with lots of restaurants and shops. It's also a short walk from the beach. The villa it self looked very nice and functional. The couch was also wide and comfy. In fact it was good enough for a fifth person to sleep in. Gardenia, which was recommended by Jankie, also served a great breakfast. A maid comes in to clean the place regularly. Traffic into and out of the Villa was fairly light and you could get to Denpasar/Kuta area in easily (assuming there's no jam within Kuta itself).
Cons: The side street, which the Villa opened into was narrow and dark. It's the first house on the street so it's only a short walk to the gate and you can keep the house lights on but I would definitely recommend walking in pairs. This end of Sanur beach is not too shabby but it's really meant for water sports and less for swimming. If you must have the best beach in Bali, you'd have to look elsewhere. The pool did have a layer of leaves and what not and we were not able to use it. We did inform Jankie's father(Claudio) to get it sorted. To be fair the we didn't follow up with them either because we ended up a little short on time anyway.
The place meet our needs and we were satisfied with the stay at the Villa and Sanur. Jankie was friendly on the few occasions that I meet him.
The house is very comfortable, has plenty of space for 4 people, everything you could need and is cleaned daily. 10 mins walk from the beach and close to many restaurants, shops etc. Giancarlo is friendly and helpful. Thoroughly recommended.
Our holiday in Sanur was perfect. Giancarlo is a very cool host and his villa is spacious, very pleasant and inside decoration as new. The swimming pool, even if not of an olympic size, is perfect for a morning dive or a refreshing swim after a hot day. You have daily cleaning and a quiet environnement with restaurants only 5 min around and the beach within 200 meters...
Sanur may not have the most beautiful beaches of Bali but they are quite enjoyable, not dangerous at all, and are a lot more clean than in Kuta for example. You have many restaurants around and specially along the long beachwalk and most of interesting places in the island are easily accessible by taxi.
So, if you prefer to avoid the too busy spots as Kuta or too artificial as Nusa Dua, Sanur is the perfect choice, specially for families with children as we did.
Thank you Giancarlo!
