I have just started doing air b n b in July 2012 and am loving the folks coming through the house.
I 've run a consulting company in the sustainability field. I have been engaged in this work all over the world for 20 years. I am native of South Africa, but kept a home in the heart of San Francisco over Dolores Park. I live between both Cape Town and San Francisco right now. I love to garden, eat healthy organic foods, local music and arts, dance, swim in the ocean, hike. I travel a great deal and have lived on and off in many countries and empathize with the need for a comfortable, clean, nurturing, safe home while adventuring or working. I don't smoke and rarely drink and prefer to have guests with a like mind. I managed a communal home of 5 in my 20's for almost 10 years and know what it is to share space. I think the recipient for this is respect, listening and compassion. I speak some broken German, better French and Dutch and have lived in a few countries on Continental Europe, London and South Africa and many years on both US coasts.
I thrive on music, live is my favorite and I seek much of it in the city. I love being in social environments but also sinking into the comfy couch and reading for hours on end. I love indie movies, fine cuisine, art museums, live theater and thrive on being by and in the ocean.
I have a very large network professionally and socially and build most of my relationships upon that, so have a good skill at listening.
I like and need my privacy especially at home, but will let you know how my time looks and will happily give you advice and tips on things to do see and experience. And no doubt will be open to taking you or showing you a few things if I have free time.
AS i became older it is the life comforts that i crave when traveling. THings that work, comfortable sleeping and a clean environment with nature all around me. I stopped liking hotels and boutique hotels long ago when I discovered the joys of staying in wonderful homes. As a guest I am very aware of my cleanliness and noise factor. I often am cleaning up and always love to bring some life into the house. I like to leave the place cleaner than I find it and help where I can if the person is away by ordering their mail or taking out rubbish etc.
I thrive on clean, healthy delicious foods. I spend more time down quiet calming activities of late and prefer to use my home as that venue for rest and let the city be the active place I play. I am in a mode of life of repair and rest right now where I do less energy intensive activities and more direct social joyful calm things. Maybe that life in the early 40's?
My life motto is, we live once, its short so find peace, harmony and joy.
