An incredibly cool looking space, exactly the kind of experience you hope for from Airbnb. Patrick and Summer were great hosts and quickly took care of the few minor issues we ran into on our first day. Good location in Buckman, close to the convention center and E Burnside St.
We brought our 14 mo. old son, and while the space isn't exactly baby proof, he had lots of fun running around and exploring!
This is a great event space. I can only imagine the awesome gatherings that happen here. If I lived in Portland, I would save up money to have a party here, with a band, and it would probably be the pinnacle of my year.
But I dont think it's really appropriate if you're staying overnight. It was our first time in Portland, and we found it was a little out of the way from downtown... although the neighborhood coffee shops are cute. The bedroom doesn't have any windows, so it gets kinda stuffy. Because of a scheduling issue, we stayed at Hotel Modera for a night, and it was cheaper and surprisingly nice, although we usually don't like staying in hotels.
Everything about our stay was wonderful. Patrick and Summer are the perfect hosts and such great people. They were always more than willing to share with us great places to see, things to do and where to eat in Portland. The space is outstanding and a really fun place to hang out. We can't stop telling people about it!
I wouldn't think twice about recommending the place to anyone, and we look forward to visiting Portland again!
The loft was awesome! My husband and I stayed there over our wedding week/weekend. We made great use of the ping pong table. The kitchen had everything we needed for basic cooking.
Summer and Patrick were really responsive and considerate. There were a few meetings and events in the loft during our stay (that's their primary business), so they always checked in with us before and afterwards. These were always during the day, which was perfect for us because we were mostly out in Portland every day.
I really appreciated the little things, like dropping off fans when the temperatures rose and refilling the TP supply. It takes just a little extra time and thoughtfulness to do these things, and Summer and Patrick were on top of it!
If you ever want to experience loft living, this is the place for you. Totally unique but amazingly comfortable and centrally located to great restaurants and entertainment. And Patrick is a superb and responsive host - I really enjoyed the cold ones waiting in the fridge after my walk from the train station!
Patrick and Summer's place is the reason you use Airbnb... The loft is a unique and cool space, in an amazing location. Perfect launching oad for exploring my favorite section of Portland.
We brought 4 adults and 3 infants (newborn and 1yr old twins). When we arrived Summer was busy preparing the space for us, and we were immediately taken with it. Note: If you are bringing kids..you have to be on the adventurous side-- think "urban camping". The space is not childproof (splinter risk, concrete floors, lots of outlets) but it is huge--and an awesome place for well-attended kids to explore and run around. We were very happy with our kiddos there, and woukd do it again.
The best part was that our Portand friends could all come over and enjoy potluck dinners, impromptu dance parties, guitar songs, etc. This made the kid friendliness factor even better-- because we had a space where some could play, some could nap, etc.-- allowing us to socialize even more.
It was an awesome vacation, and this place was a large part of why it wa good.
We could not have asked for anything more during our stay at Union/Pine. Patrick and Summer have created an incredible space, and they are fantastic hosts who helped educate us on the surrounding area and made us feel like we were at home. They even let us borrow some bikes to go exploring one evening! We would recommend Union/Pine to anyone looking to work, play or just explore Portland! We hope to stay here again the next time we visit!
Loved it! Unreal place to stay overnight... it's such a huge space but the way it's organized with the enclosed bedroom and kitchen makes it surprisingly homey. Music and ping pong were played constantly throughout our stay. :)
The space is great! We had so much fun here while we were in Portland a few weeks ago. Patrick and Summer were incredibly gracious and accommodating. Definitely check it out if you're in town!
Patrick was the perfect renter. He left the place in great condition and was very flexible even though he knew an appraiser was coming to the cabin during his stay.
