Our stay was brief, but lovely. After a long day of travel we were made to feel welcome by Giles and Ruth and a pot of tea. Giles gave us a brief rundown of the history of the little church nearby, which we explored that evening. Full Irish breakfast the next morning was delicious, and left us ready to take the beautiful hike Giles suggested from Doolin to the Cliffs of Moher. Thanks for a great stay!
My husband and I stayed here while visiting Galway and the Cliffs, and we were so impressed by this place! We felt welcome from the second we walked in the door. Ruth and Giles were the best hosts in the best house you could ask to stay in. Everything was impeccable: the communication, the price, the room, the shower, the food(!), and the company. My only gripe is that we didn't stay longer. If you're coming to the West coast of Ireland, do yourself a favor and stay with the Hillsons.
Our first night in Ireland and we could not be more lucky. Gils and his wife are so friendly that we felt at home. We love everything of this place : the bedroom, the kitchen, the garden and even the dogs. And if you need any suggestions for your holiday, just ask to them!
Giles and his family provided an excellent home away from home. They were very welcoming and we were very comfortable in the accommodation. Local information and tips were shared and Giles' breakfast was delicious.
We'd definitely stay again and highly recommend other people to stay.
On arrival at the Galway country sunsets I was met by Giles and his two energetic jack Russell dogs. The directions I received from Giles to the property were perfect which meant that I arrived at a fairly remote location, very relaxed. Never having been to Kilcolgan or Galway before I was a little apprehensive but there was no need.
Wow, what a find.! Beautiful well maintained property in a stunning location. Once introductions were over I was given a clean, large well appointed room with en suite facilities and a beautiful view of the surrounding area. Giles was extremely generous and allowed me free use of the kitchen, bathroom etc and was generally made to feel at "home".
Although not expected, asked for, or included in the price, Giles offered me a good home cooked breakfast and plenty of coffee and conversation and was more than happy to drive me to the next village which I thought was very kind and confirmed my initial thoughts that I had been lucky enough to meet a genuine and warm host.
To conclude, I will definitely be staying with Giles again and would strongly recommend his place should you want a quiet retreat away from the more lively Galway City or if you prefer relaxing in a idyllic setting with a knowledgeable and generous host.
Giles and Ruth are very wellcoming, like to speak and exchange, spend time
with the guests,it's a lovely familly. They can give very good advices.
We enjoyed our stay in this tidy and clean house.
I highly recommend this place.
I had expectations from the posting and every on of them were exceeded. Giles and Ruth are a lovely family and I felt at home right from my arrival.
I spent my first day going the Aran Islands and was not quite prepared. They advised me on what to see and do, and I had a great time.
I have not talked so much with pleasant, like-minded people in a long time.
This venue is half an hour from Galway and incredibly peaceful.
I will be back ;-)
