Welcoming. Clean. Great Apartment and a great area, just by the Thames, Tate Modern and Borough Market. Easy access to central london as well as Brick Lane / Shoreditch.
Also should note, that John was very considerate when it looked like my travel plans were going to change. Ended up not happening, but nice to know that in good hands.
The reservation was canceled 18 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Other than a slight mix up at check in, everything ran extremely smoothly. The apartment is lovely and could not be better placed. We were in close walking distance (5 mins) to Borough market, which is wonderful! We did find the single beds a bit hard, but that's really our only downside.
Great Apartment. Great Location. Great host.
London was wonderful and John's S. London apartment was nice. Lodging in London is expensive and as the place was two bedrooms/two bathrooms, its price was in alignment with London prices. We had originally booked with John for a similar sized apartment in another building. The week before our trip, John wrote a polite email explaining that the original place was not available and that we were going to stay in another of his places. He directed us to his own website for pictures (it doesn't seem to be listed on airbnb). The new place had similar furnishings to what we had originally booked but was one tube stop further away from central London. Although not a genuine "bait and switch" we were put off when we asked for information about the new place, and he referred us to his own website that is "twice as old as airbnb". Ultimately the place was in a nice building and had all of the amenities that he had advertised (i.e. 2 bedroom/bathrooms, furnished kitchen, wifi, clean linens, foldout sofabed). His site host Yukiko arrived in a timely manner to let us in and while being extremely professional in demeanor was not very friendly which we have come to expect from Airbnb hosts (e.g. informing us that there were only 2 rolls of toilet paper, and 1 bar of soap and that we were expected to buy more if needed) . John is clearly a professional apartment manager and not a typical Airbnb host. He has clearly been burnt by tenants in the past and was very cautious and careful with us. He never crossed the line to being offensive but there was one or two times during the engagement process when I was tempted to cancel. My family and I ultimately had a wonderful week in his apartment. I have not yet received my deposit back so this review is not complete yet. While I wish him the best, I'm not sure that Airbnb is the best venue for him to use to market his properties.
John's place is really nice, clean and well located. An ideal place for a family stay in London -pretty much close to everything, but away enough from the crowded streets of central london.
We recently stayed in John's apartment for 2 and a half weeks, and can recommend the place highly. Although there was a heatwave going on, the apartment stayed reasonably cool due to a nice cross-draught between front and back windows. The view down the street is pleasant and the location is very convenient to tube station and SE and central London. The beds are comfortable. The kitchen facilities are fine. We had a problem with the WiFi but John came right over and fixed it.
Our one complaint is that although we texted John's contact person from the airport, giving plenty of notice of our arrival, we had to wait 40 minutes for her to show up and let us into the apartment. If this sounds nitpicky, bear in mind that we had just flown all the way from New Zealand and were extremely tired. We hope John addresses this problem because it wasn't a great start to the holiday. Other than that, though, we really enjoyed our stay and would rent the apartment again.
Great flat in a really nice area. 2min from borough station, 10min walk from Borough Market and London Bridge.
The apartment was very clean, calm and John very helpful before arrival.
We really enjoyed our time in London. John's apartment is well located near Underground stops, and close to a number of tourist attractions including London Bridge and the Shard. We were also very happy to discover Borough Market, which turned out to be a real foodie haven. The apartment itself is a good size and worked very well for our family of four. Yukiko was lovely, & not only was she on time with our keys, but also a fountain of information when it came to local amenities. Thanks John!
Excelent location. And Excelent overall apartment conditions. Very Clean.
The host was always willing to solve any problems. I will recomend it to my friends.
