I stayed in Brooklyn for three months and i really enjoyed it. All of the roomates were very friendly, helpful and open-minded. Ob did everything to make my stay comfortable. If you have any questions or need help, you could always go to him (or the other roomates) and you will get an answer. I was really happy the Ob allowed that my boyfriend could visit me.
Allthough the room is pretty small, you have enough space for all your things. The other rooms in the house, like kitchen or living room, are a very big so you could hang it there, if the room is to small for you.
All in all, my stay in his house was really good, all the roommates were nice and i didn't have any problem there.
My stay here was really wonderful! The house is perfectly equipped and my fellow housemates were a pleasure to meet. The bed is quite small, but that doesn't matter. The surrounding area is so exciting that you won't want to spend too much time sleeping. Not only that, but getting over to Manhattan is perfectly simple. With a huge living area, beautiful back garden and ideal location this is a great place to stay whilst you are in the city.
Great house, great neighborhood, and great housemates! A peaceful and pleasant respite from the hustle and bustle of NYC - an ideal home away from home.
This BnB is closed to Manhattan placed in Brooklyn and its lovely neigborhood next to Fort Green Park. The offered room is small but the whole house with kitchen, spacious bathroom (strong shower), dining room, garden, etc. is a great place to stay. I missed nothing.
For me it was the ideal accommodation to explore the city. I felt really well hosted being guest at "Appartment de Kalb". Arvin gave me several advice for activities and worth seeing sights downtown. He drive me around and showed me his neighbourhood. We went out for dinner or had drinks together. Sometimes I was to sleepy in the evening to enter each appointment ;-) Arvin also gave me his member card for the Moma to get free admission. Thank you for that!
Unfortunately the time was to short to experience everything and we had less time to speak about our architectural projects, but anytime I will come back to join Arvin and his roommates again. Alltogether I had a great stay there and would ever book again, highly recommended.
Arvin, good luck to you and see you once again. Best regards from Vancouver, Caspar.
I have been two months in New York and I really enjoyed my stay. The room is small but with everything you need. Arvin is an excellent host, and very easy to communicate with. The apartment is very large with a well furnished living room and the roommates are very nice. Fort Greene is a beautiful neighborhood, the apartment is really near the park and ten minutes walk far away from the subway. I hope to return there soon.
Very small but cozy room. The house is huge and beautiful. The neighborhood is one of my favorites in NYC. Really enjoyed the experience. I'd move in permanently if I could.
Ob was one of the best guests we have ever hosted! And we have hosted scores of people from all over the world. Ob is and will probably remain one of our most favorites.
He is very kind and generous. He bought me bagels and scallion cream cheese all the way from Murray's Bagels in NYC! To me that was above and beyond generous and sweet and I was so grateful because I moved from Manhattan to LA and hadn't had a bagel in a year!
As a guest he communicates very well. He advised me of his plans before and during his stay which we really appreciate as hosts. He went out of his way to be respectful of our home and kept his room and bathroom exceptionally clean and he was very kind to our pets. He is a very charming and interesting person and it was a pleasure to spend time talking him a little everyday.
He HIGHLY recommend him as a guest all Airbnb hosts and we would DEFINITELY have him back in our home and will be keeping in touch and seeing him when we visit our hometown of NYC!
Two thumbs up for Arvin. If you want a guest who shows appreciation, gives valuable feedback and has the openness of a good friend then feel honored if he requests to stay with you. This is one of the rewards of being a host, meeting the likes of Arvin. Thank you Arvin.
very cool people rent to them
Where to start! Ob has been the most wonderful host in this DeKalb house, a place to come back many times. The neighborhood is awesome, and this particularly house is full of surprises. Kind of artsy, simple and cozy, a home for anybody wanting to have a nice time in NY area. No problem getting transportation, everything you need is nearby. Lovely restaurants, park, museum, botanical garden, art schools, art supplies, etc. Ob showed us for example, to my husband and I, the Brooklyn bridge and "the other side", Manhattan, walking through interesting trajectories. He really took his time, and his knowledge as an architect and cultivated person, to understand our interests, and be our deluxe guide. Ob always has the perfect idea for any place, time, theme, that you are looking for: food, activity, entertainment, etc. specially if art and architecture -and good food- are involved. We had the very best time with him, staying in this cool place. All the roommates where professionals with creative works, excellent people, so we used to have good conversations in the kitchen. I really miss the days we spend there, and we are looking forward to go again!
A big, beautiful brownstone shared by friendly, creative folks who are respectful of one another and always welcoming to guests. I lived here as a roommate for just over a year before heading west and I have to say it was the best place I ever lived in the city. Spacious, quiet, with a private garden in back and big park at the end of the block; terrific and diverse neighborhood in the heart of Brooklyn; great access to public transportation w/ A/C/E around the corner and Midtown Manhattan three stops away on the Q. Super bien!
My boyfriend and I stayed at Ob's place for a weekend. It was a real treat. The house is big and well decorated. It is also very tidy an clean. This place has a great atmosphere, with nice people to talk to but as much intimacy as you want. Ob is a fantastic host, he made us feel at home. I would definitively recommend this place, moreover, I'd definitively come back !
I joined the wonderful DeKalb Home for three month and i'm still absolutely in love!
Arvin is a awesome host and helped me out with everything!! And all the other roommates are wonderful beautiful minds! I miss u all!! There is this lovely fort green park two minutes away and a lot of delicious restaurants and bars close by!
It is the perfect place to explore brooklyn which is a perfect place to relax and rest or to join manhattan. I hope to come back for the third time and meet all my homies again! XX Karen
