I live in New York, work as a communications and financial consultant, and travel to the Middle East every other month.
I've just got back from staying at Chad's place for a week. The apartment is a wonderful space. It felt like staying at a friends house. I met Chad very briefly and he was courteous and polite and helped me very quickly with the very few questions I did have. I would definitely stay here again!
We loved staying here! The location was perfect, with easy access to great places to eat and lots of attractions to visit. Chad has the apartment very well fitted out and we were able to get the five of us accommodated nicely. We would definitely recommend this apartment and look forward to returning there again one day.
Chad's apartment was fantastic. It was in a perfect location for getting around during my week in New York just before Christmas. The neighborhood is always bustling with activity so you feel safe whatever time you venture out. I appreciated Chad's recommendations for local food and restaurants. New York is an amazing place. Loved it!
Great location and apartment and the doormen were very helpful throughout our stay. The only let down was not having the password for the WiFi and not being able to work the TV to see the news. Other than this thank you Chad for allowing us to stay in your home!
Merry Christmas and a very happy New Year.
Everything was perfect. The apartment is in a great location, with a lot of restaurants nearby. The doormen are very friendly. Chad´s tips were very helpful. We loved Amy´s Bread!!!! When returning to NYC we would definetly stay on Chad´s apartment again.
Just had 7 nights at Chad's apartment. Perfect location for getting around New York and everything you need re restaurants, bars etc is literally around the corner. Chad's place is warm, homely and a great place to stay. All you need is provided by Chad, just like being in your own home. We loved our stay there and hope to stay again if Chad will have us. Don't hesitate to book this apartment.
I spent a week in Chad's great apartment. It was clean, extremely comfortable with good strong wifi, a great big TV and a huge choice of music on the Sonos sound system, on which I discovered some wonderful jazz radio stations. Listening to these at night, sitting in the dark and gazing north out of his 9th floor window at all the lights of the city was a truly memorable experience. The location was perfect for me as it was a short walk to all the theatres and the subway entrance at 43rd and 8th. The doormen were extremely friendly and helpful. There's a big Food Emporium across the street as well as all sorts of smaller specialist food shops, and a great range of restaurants all around, from the high-end ESCA to the Westway Diner, all within a stone's throw. I only hope I'll be able to stay at Chad's again next year, though with all these good reviews he will probably be booked out!
Quiet apartment, very nice, great located (close to metro, supermarket, fast food, Times Square, 5th avenue, MoMa Rockerfeller/Empire State building ...) and offers an amazing view.
Chad answered all our questions very quickly and was very kindly.
We highly recommend this apartment. August 2013
Response from Chad:
Thank you, it was a great pleasure to have you stay here! Come back any time :)
Chad's apartment is perfect: well located, comfortable, calm, quiet, and secure. Most of the time, we ate outside in order to discover Manhattan's restaurants and food. We took Chad's advice and also discovered all that NYC has to offer, by walking directly from Chad's place. We will definitely recommend Chad's home to our French and American friends. To be able to discover NYC in such an ideal location and in such a great apartment, was amazing.
We just spent the whole month of June in Chad’s flat and what an experience that was! The flat is so well located, 5 minutes away from Times Square and 2 minutes from the nearest subway station. Don’t hesitate to try the many restaurants Chad recommends, they are all excellent, especially 5 Napkin Burger, the Westway Diner (open 24/7) and Dalton’s to watch sports.
The flat was really clean and was just like on the pictures. You can’t watch “normal” TV there, but don’t worry, if you are bored of the City, you won’t be with the extensive choice of literature at hand: all classics you can think of, in English or even Russian. You might even spot a book Chad’s written himself. Plus, the Internet works very well so you can always watch (website hidden) on your laptop.
We used the gym almost every day; it’s absolutely fantastic and never really so busy that you can’t use any of the machines. The laundry room is really handy and you’re done with washing and drying in 1hr30mins. The doormen are very nice too. And we never heard any noise from the neighbours.
We had guests and they had to wear plane masks to sleep in the living room as the sun rises around 5.30am and there are no curtains in the living room. But it’s not a major problem at all and doesn’t prevent it from being a great flat.
We’ll definitely renew our experience and hopefully can stay at Chad’s flat again. We can’t recommend it enough. Thanks!
Emma & Ramon
It was a perfect guest, polite and friendly. It was a very pleasure to know him. We want to recommend him and his friends at all other hosts. Thanks!
Chad was a great guest! He stayed in touch about his arrival and departure time and was a very pleasant person to comunicate. He left our house in impeccable condition. I would be delighted to have him stay in our house again!
Chad was a great guest. Left the apartment in perfect shape for my return home and communicated everything very clearly to me. Unfortunately I never met Chad in person but from the interactions we had through email and text; he seems like a really great guy! Hope I meet you as a neighbor one day in the Slope!
Chad was a wonderful guest. Communicative and respectful of the space! Thanks, Chad!
people really polite and very clean and 'was a pleasure to have them as guests I hope you have a good memory of Rome with Luis Miguel
Very nice guest !
Merci Chad. Je recommanede cette famille.
There were no problems during their stay and we would like to recommend these guests to other owners.
Una bella famiglia! Tutto è andato alla perfezione.
Great guest, I highly recommend in the future.
How we met? Chad reserved a room for two nights at my winery, VALDONICA in Tuscany/Italy.....falling in love with VALDONICA he stayed for two weeks. We are friends since then - and visited each other frequently. Chad is always an inspiration to reflect with and fun to be with: Cultured, knowledgable, dedicated, passionate, caring.....it´s a gift to know him!
Chad is a dear old friend and dear old soul, and I would highly recommend him as both a guest and a host. He's been a most thoughtful guest in my home on many occasions, with an unparalleled enthusiasm for exploring, making new friends, traveling, theater, reading, cooking & eating well, and... just about everything else! He is truly well-read, extremely knowledgeable about so many subjects, and plays well with others, of all ages. His Times Square apartment is small but clean, comfortable, and convenient, with helpful doormen. It's well situated for getting out to see most of the city, especially if you want to go gallery hopping in Chelsea or check out the High Line, a short walk or cab ride down 10th Avenue.
You will want to meet Chad the guy over staying in his place any time but since you are reading this I assume it means you are a member of a most unfortunate set -- the poor, unlucky, strangers to Chad. I strongly recommend you take the first step towards getting out of that sorry state by renting his apartment at 43rd and 9th for as long as you can possibly afford to. It's a wonderful place, in a happening location, with a magnificent Manhatten skyline view, and the friendliest doormen too. But more importantly it is suffused with Chadness -- Chad books, Chad art, Chad souvenirs and trinkets from his many travels and adventures. I don’t want to spoil it for you but to give you a taste the framed Oath of Hippocrates is mounted on the back of the bathroom door. Why is it there? Is Chad an MD? Of course not no -- it’s just a beautiful, true, passionate, and fascinating thing of which Chad’s NYC apartment is chock-full. Enjoy!
Chad may be my brother, but regardless I would give him my highest recommendation as I've made it a point to stay at his apartment during the New Year's celebration as often as humanly possible. So far, I'm up to six visits and I couldn't be happier with them. Chad's apartment is in the ideal location, being blocks from Times Square as well as steps from a host of restaurants, bars and pubs, delis, and anything else a visitor could want. If you have the chance, there is no better place to stay than this beautiful, spacious, cozy and comfortable New York apartment.
Chad has been a friend for years. He is a supremely trustworthy and generous person, with an extraordinary breadth of knowledge covering contemporary New York City as well as most inhabited continents and most of human history.
For those of you who visit Manhattan to get away from it all, to avoid the crowds and the fun and the parties and the constant whirl of life and activity that is the world's greatest city, this is probably not the apartment for you.
For the rest of you, I guarantee you will enjoy staying at Chad's gorgeous aerie -- with views of the Midtown skyline, doorman service, easy access to subways and a hard-to-match cafe, restaurant and nightlife scene. This pad is hard to beat.
I have been lucky to know Chad for over ten years now. We met in a work context and quickly evolved into friends. I have visited New York one or twice a year since then, staying in his fantastic apartment more often than not.
I could fill volumes writing about him, but for now I'll just say that, in addition to being kind, intelligent and trustworthy, Chad is one of the most interesting people I know. Perhaps more accurately, he is one of the most interested people I know - he is constantly getting excited about new ideas, and researching new topics. A small sampling: when I have visited over the years I have found him learning to play the piano, researching wasps for the museum of natural history, raising funds to build a replica of Shakespeare's Globe theater in New York, and studying Arabic.
He's is great, and his apartment is fantastic. It's centrally located, has brilliant view, and an outstanding library!
