This place has a great view and is in a good location if you want to be really close to the city or Chinatown/ID district. Quick on and off freeways. The neighborhood is quiet and there is a nice park about a block away. The unit itself could use some repair, which I told the owner about and hopefully these things get fixed soon (the gas fireplace is out, the kitchen sink faucet sprays on full blast only, the master shower handle is about to fall off which would be really bad if the water was running.) The deck is great but needed a good clean up from what I could see was a shattered table top, there were shards of glass embedded in all of the cracks between the deck 2x4s. There were also shards of glass filling 2 outdoor waste bins, which is not a big deal for adults but it made it challenging to keep my baby and dog away from all of the glass on the deck area. The unit's heat is a bit challenging to regulate during the winter- you can feel the heat going right out the windows and the fireplace was broken on our arrival. The owner said he'd have it fixed in 2 days but in the 2 weeks we were staying there we never heard about it again. One garage door opener and REALLY small parking spots in the garage, and very minimal cooking utensils and kitchenware. Other than that it's a cute place and had a great view, might be better as a spring or summer vacation place. I also have to comment that it was a bit odd to arrive and find someone's gym shorts hanging in the bathroom and a business card to a gentleman's club on the kitchen counter.
Shankar had great communication & although we never met him, he gave us detailed instructions on getting to & into the apartment with some tips on surrounding amenities. Great location with beautiful view as long as you have your own transportation & the secure undercover parking was fantastic. Very quick drive to downtown Seattle. 2nd bedroom was a little small & had a single bed & another pull out single under the bed, so perfect for a family with 2 kids. The kitchen was nice, as well as the loungeroom, deck etc. The main bathroom could do with a curtain or blinds on the window, as it faces the street & wasn't very private when showering at night. The train horns were a little loud during the night (but after the first night we got used to it).
A great first exprerience using Airbnb & I would recommend this apartment & Shankar as a host to anyone looking for accommodation in Seattle.
View was excellent! Location was a perfect place to launch from. Shankar was very helpful when my friend and I became lost driving into Seattle. The building is a very quiet building with nothing that disturbed out visit at all.
Thanks for the great stay.
very comfortable great view from the roof terrace. Shankar was very helpful after all our telephone calls! Would certainly go back if ever in Seattle again!
My family and I stayed at Shankar's condo and it was great. Very good communication with the host and we were grateful for the parking. The deck is a definite highlight. Thank you!
The views and location were great, but the cleaning cost of $75 was not justified. We had to clean the patio table before using it along with some other areas that were pretty dirty.
Shankar is a very helpful host. He was responsive to questions before booking, and provided helpful information after. He also knew that we were getting into town a little early and e-mailed me as soon as the condo was ready - in fact, he was still on site finishing cleaning when he sent it: we ran into him as we were coming in. He was kind and welcoming.
The condo itself isvery nice. It has a nice layout and looks like it has been recently remodeled; there were some very nice finishes, including the flooring, the tile work in the bathrooms and the simple, elegant kitchen. The rooftop patio is obviously the show-stopper. Amazing views of the downtown skyline as well as the stadiums and the bay. A nice 4-chair patio set with umbrella provides a relaxing place to take in the sunset. The place did have a "rental" vibe - there were scuffs on doors and trim from the comings and goings of guests, and an odd collection of furniture. As others have noted, the kitchen is not "fully stocked" although it does have the bare essentials. If you are planning to take advantage of the kitchen, bring some extra settings, cooking vessels, and utensils.
As for other amenities, the off-street, secure parking is a major plus. In fact, if you were in town and planning to drive everywhere, it would be an ideal place and render most of my comments about the neighborhood below moot. One thing I noticed is that the satellite TV package seemed lacking. I saw no less than 3 dishes mounted on the patio, and yet I couldn't find ESPN! I didn't even know you could get a subscription package without it! (I'm happy to chalk this up to user error, but I navigated the guide top-to-bottom at least 3 times and couldn't find it.) Internet is fast. No A/C but the breezes are nice and cooled down the unit in under an hour. My wife found the master bed a little too firm, although it didn't bother me much.
The neighborhood is north Beacon Hill. I would classify it as "mixed ethnic urban residential". Meaning it's a mix of old houses and new apt/condo buildings on relatively small streets without a whole lot of commercial activity mixed in. Being on a hill and being hemmed in by freeways makes walking a little more arduous, although not unmanageable. Close to bus stops and a little farther to light rail. As I said, if you were planning to drive everywhere, this would be an ideal location. The neighborhood is under a flight path, near the freeway (masked by trees but still audible) and overlooking the shipping/freight train hub... it can be a bit noisy. Chalk it up to city living. Nearby is the international district, including Little Saigon and Chinatown. These are not places I would visit at night, but they do offer some variety in terms of food and market choices.
A decent place to stay for a last minute trip to Seattle. A comfortable apartment with a great view and secure parking, conveniently located 10 minutes from downtown by car. Shankar was helpful in providing directions and responding to questions in advance of our arrival. However, we were disappointed by the cleanliness of the apartment, as the kitchen table and counters had not been cleaned prior to our stay. The kitchen also lacked supplies for those who wish to cook in the apartment.
I am so glad I stayed at this condo! The place is well kept, in a nice area and secure. So much better than staying in a hotel. I came to Seattle to visit with my daughter and having this condo made it like being home together. The views from the deck at night are spectacular and it is relaxing to watch the ships coming and going from the harbor during the day. Shankar is also a gracious host providing info and recommendations for things to do while in Seattle. I would definitely stay here again!
Good location for easy access to multiple locations around Seattle. Nice coffee shops and small grocery store near by for quick supplies. Great views and wonderful to have direct access to a large deck both day and night. Comfortable sleeping arrangements. Garage made it easy for our rental car to be off the street. Our host was responsive from beginning to end to make our trip enjoyable.
Shankar is a friendly, easy going guest to host. His flight arrived late, so he let himself in around midnight using the keycode, sorry Shankar we did not mean to be rude and neglect you! He was very busy with work and kept his nose to the grindstone; we hardly saw him. His start-up will be successful because he is very dedicated. Good luck!
