I'm from Seattle originally, but relocated to NYC for grad school back in 2003. Since then, I've lived in Harlem and enjoyed all it has to offer, it's growth and overall community feel.
Wow, what an amazing apartment. Let's start with the location literally 5 minute walk to the subway. The subway takes your right under main places in NY (Times Square, Empire State Building, 911 memorial, South Ferry, etc) you might have to transfer trains but it's all done in the station. I never felt un safe, since there are so many people walking around the neighborhood at all times including cops. The apartment was cozy and perfect for my family of 5. The beds where comfortable and clean. Not once did I see an ant or a bug. The bathroom was also very clean. Although we where in the apartment only at nights to sleep, we still loved it and highly recommend it.
Excellent location close to subway lines (only 1 block away - 3min).
Tyler was very helpful.
She answer very quickly to messages.
The appartment has a good size for 4 people.
The stay was quite ok. The flat is big and nicely decorated, with all the facilities you would need and more. It was starting to be cold (November) and the windows air con systems were still installed so a little isolation would have been welcome. But i guess it will be fixed soon.
The area is nice and very convenient with the metro at less than 5 min. Overall it was a winner!
Beautiful apartment in a great location! Tyler was very helpful and nice to work with...very on the ball with helping when we had any problems. I would happily stay there again!
My Friends and I stayed at Tylers appartment for 11 nights. Tyler is very nice and friendly.
We haven't met her as we were out most of the time but before our arrival she prepared us a very helpful guide. Tyler, once again thank you very much for it!
Our stay was fine. The location of the apartment is good as being very close to main metro station. The appartment is of a correct size for two couples and was clean at our arrival.
Just to mention that there are no 4 chairs in the kitchen to eat breakfast togehter but that was not a big problem for us.
We felt very comfortable and would recommend the appartment!
Everything was as expected. Nice place !!
As details just need to be more reactive if there is a need, also a fixed telephone and line in order from people to join us and a vacuum cleaner for carpets.
Excellent location close to both bus and major subways lines. The M60 coming from LaGuardia is only 10 blocks away with an easy connection to both the #2 bus or #2/3 sub. The apartment was clean, well equipped with towels and linens. The first bedroom and living room have an excellent AC but the second bedroom only has a fan. The dishwasher and WIFi were not working but that was not an issue with us. Host was friendly and easy to communicate with to arrange arrival and departure. Would definitely recommend this location as we were extremely pleased with our experience.
There were 4 of us (all adults) and the apartment worked fine for us! It was great to chill there after a long day of being all around the city. We would definitely choose Tyler's place next time we are in NYC! Thanks for a great stay.
Tyler and her apartment were amazing! There were three adults staying there and we had plenty of room without ever feeling cramped. When we arrived, we had a problem with the WiFi but through text messages and a couple of phone calls, Tyler contacted the cable company and we figured out the problem. It worked beautifully the rest of the week (although we did have to reset the router once, but I have to do that periodically at home, too). The apartment was wonderfully furnished with kitchen utensils and lots of towels, the beds were exceptionally comfortable (I loved the super soft linens!), and the tub with really hot water was relaxing after a long day of walking. One of our favorite things was the ice maker!
The apartment is situated VERY close to subway stops so you can be in midtown in no time, restaurants (definitely try Elsie's Caribbean Cafe and the Halal street vendor near the 2/3 subway line!), and grocery stores and we felt VERY safe in the neighborhood, even walking home well after midnight. There was no concern there at all and we felt very safe inside the apartment, too. (When we arrived, we took an expensive taxi from Newark airport but outbound, we used the subway to Penn Station then the NJ Transit train back to the airport -- it cost $12.50 per person plus the $2.50 subway fare. Elevators ARE available at the 2/3 stop on Lenox/135th, so hopefully this tip will save you some money on taxis!)
My only suggestions would be 1) replace the incandesent bulbs in the half-bath with compact fluorescents to reduce the heat in there and 2) install window A/C units in the bedrooms. The bedrooms were quite warm in the middle of summer and even though there was an A/C unit in the master, without it being actually installed, it vented the hot air back into the bedroom which defeated the purpose. But the living room A/C worked wonderfully and the bedroom fans made those rooms more comfortable at night. We survived, and that's what matters!
This was an exceptional stay in a beautiful apartment. Tyler, we WILL choose you again on the next trip to NYC!!! Thank you for a fabulous time!
Tyler's place was really nice! It was clean and comfortable for a large group of 5 or 6. The beds were so comfortable and the house i well equipped with towels and kitchen utensils and the washer and dryer comes in really handy especially when it's raining heavily in the city. Super easy to get to Time Square, the subway is a 2 minute walk and takes you directly there. I was only a little bit disappointed to get charged 20 dollars for breaking a soap dispenser because I kind of expected it to have cost less than that. Other than that, it was a great stay!
