Gramercy Place is a laid back environment with guests from all over the world .
Great place to stay! Kellie & Sheila were very helpful. Very clean, spacious property. Would definitely stay here again! :)
I didn't actually meet Kellie, but she was very helpful and communicative, and left me instructions in a welcome basket for when I arrived. The room was perfectly adequate and Gramercy hostel is in a very nice, big building. One of the guests there helped me carry my heavy bag up the stairs. At night there seemed to be plenty of socialising, although I didn't hang around to get to know anyone.
The reservation was canceled 3 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
It was a great time!
I had a great stay here. Kellie and Sheila are nice, kind and really helpful hosts. Good atmosphere, clean and homey. In general good and nice people staying here.
Gramercy Place is very central located. It's pretty easy to go any where from here. So whether you are in between places or a tourist, I strongly recommend staying here.
I'm definitely staying here again
Kellie and all the people that work there were truly amazing. I met some good folks while being there and had one of the best times ever. I definitely recommend it to anyone who's looking for a clean place, affordable prices and great people!
I had a great experience.. i would highly recommend it.. nice room, nice people.
Do yourself a favor: book as many days as you can at Gramercy Place, enjoy the surroundings, the hospitality of the management and staff and how easy it is to get around most of Los Angeles from here! Kellie was super accommodating and swift in getting in touch with me. And you can't find better rates than $29 a night (four to a room share, $60 per night for a single room) and many more options. Clean, affordable and above all those AVAILABLE, 1310 Gramercy is the ONLY CHOICE FOR STAYING IN LOS ANGELES! Love you guys and I will always choose YOU!
This place is a gem!!! So clean and very professional. You can tell in all the little details that they're experienced operators and that they care because they've done many small things to make your stay the best possible. Also I loved the location, only about 5 to 10 miles from everywhere I needed to be in LA. Lastly the others guests were fun, good sense of humor and nature. The backyard patio is perfect for the LA weather. I would definitely stay here again and I hope to do so in the next few months. Very pleased.
At first, I was a little skeptical, as I arrived in the middle of the night and the neighborhood looks a bit sketchy. But in the light of day I realized that was because a few cars were being towed on the block, making it seem like there was something wrong. LA loves to tow away your car.
As for Gramercy Place, it is absolutely fabulous. My room was supposed to be a four bed dorm, but they ran out, so they placed me in a two bed all by myself (no extra charge), it was plenty big enough for two, with a walk in closet, cubbys, two desks and a very large dresser, and still had enough room for three people to lay out on the floor. The staff is amazing, friendly and laid back, the back yard veranda was a huge bonus and there is a library (with computers), a media room (large screen tv) and 3 kitchens.
When they say it's near everything, they aren't kidding. I arrived in LA with a 1/4 tank of gas, ran all over the place from Gramercy for 4 days and didn't need to fill up until I left on day 5. There is the best taco truck down the street that sells delicious Pastor tacos for $1/each, right in front of a grocery that sells everything else you could need for reasonable prices. And the liquor store two blocks away is decent as well.
It was definitely the best spur of the moment choice I have ever made. This will be the only place I will stay in LA, when I come back.
I wish that I didn't live in LA so that I would stay at Gramercy Place. I've known Kellie and Sheila a long time now, back when we all worked at a hostel in Santa Monica. I'm honored to have been their colleague, but more so for having them as friends. I don't know anyone more catering, mindful and knowledgeable of LA than these two.
I've known Kellie for over a decade, as a colleague and a friend. I also stayed at Gramercy, and can say Kellie (and Sheila!) go beyond the call of duty in helping guests settle in and feel comfortable in LA. Gramercy Place has a communal, big-family kind of feel, and has plenty of facilities for cooking and food prep, or for just hanging out on the patio. I'm still friends, after many years, with many of the good folks I met at Gramercy.
And if you're really lucky, you'll find yourself there during one of their world-famous Gramercy BBQs!
[Warning: Kellie is a bit of a spelling snob and may correct you're grammer.]
I've known Kellie for more than 10 years now. We worked together for a while but it really wasn't until I moved away and she generously offerred for me to stay at her place when I was back in town that we became friends. Now when I get down to LA for a visit I'm generally coming with my husband and son so it's been great to stay at Gramercy Place and see her where she works. It's a very clean and comfortable place to stay. We love being able to cook our own food in the kitchen and meet folks from all over the world who are also at Gramercy. We highly reccommend it!
I've know the staff at Gramercy place for over 7 years now. I was one of the very first guests!! I stayed for 7 weeks, the first time and have been back to visit often. Kellie & Sheila are amazing women who keep this place running like a well oiled machine. It's clean, comfortable and they are very accommodating. The place is beautiful and they have put a lot of work fixing up and renovating the building. They also do many special things for their guests that no hotel would ever do; One year they threw me a birthday party. They invited all the guests in the building and we had a total blast!! They also often do special things for the guests on holidays, like Halloween or Thanksgiving. Gramercy is not your everyday, run of the mill, lodging place. It's a special place with very special and wonderful people who care about it. I highly recommend that you stay at Gramercy. You won't be disappointed!!
Gramercy Place is a real find in a city like Los Angeles! Kellie and Sheila work really hard to create a warm, inviting, safe and cooperative environment for all of their guests. They even put together BBQ's and dinners for all of the guests that stay there during all the big holidays. No detail is overlooked. It's clean and bright and VERY roomy with lots of common areas where you can enjoy the company of others or simply kick back and relax in solitude. And the price is RIGHT!! It's no accident that Gramercy Place has TONS of return visitors.
P.S> The pictures really don't do it justice...it's a really bright and beautiful place to stay.
