I live full-time in Dublin but get up to the house in Donegal whenever possible. LIke cycling, reading and pottering around rock pools looking for hermit crabs.

We didn't meet Louise but she provided great directions to the house and local information via email. The cottage was very cute and the neighbourhood quiet and peaceful
Big thank you to Louise - our stay in Harkin's Cottage was really special! The location is stunning - so near to Belleek, and yet you feel you are in the heart of the country. And you are so near to so many interesting and scenic spots - we particularly liked Rossnowlagh. The view from the house was gorgeous, and the house itself is just so homely, cosy and full of character. I loved the wood burning stove - and the little mezzanine sitting room was my favourite spot! My 4 year old was saying she missed it (and the friendly cows) before we even got to the end of the lane. We really enjoyed our stay - and the cottage had everything we needed. No high-tech gadgets, and not much in the line of phone coverage indoors - which is just how we wanted it. I would whole heartedly recommend it if you are looking for a break away from the norm and a chance to kick back and really relax.
Louise was great to deal with - nothing was a problem, and all of the images and information were spot on. Thanks!
This house is a perfect option for a family or large group looking for a cosy but spacious house for their stay in Dublin. You can avoid having to book multiple hotel rooms, and have a fully equipped kitchen to cook your own meals. Kids get there own space and you can all hang out together in the dining room or the living room. There is even a play room, which we didn't need but I would imagine small children would love it. Note that when we stayed there, there wasn't a microwave or TV. Wifi however worked perfectly the entire time. It is a safe neighborhood with bus-stops literally in front of the gate coming back from downtown, and just 50 meters or so for the stop leading downtown. You can also walk 5 minutes to get bus 46A towards Dun Laoghaire or for example Porterhouse North, the Hugh Lane Gallery or along O'Connell street. For a suburban-feeling neighborhood it is quite close to downtown and you could even walk it. There are smallish grocery stores within a few minutes' walk or a large Tesco just a couple of bus-stops towards the center.
Louise was very accessible the entire time for any questions or concerns and left some explanations (trash, heating, bus tickets, etc.) and ideas for what to see in Dublin.
Lovely cottage in a great location. We stayed 4 different places in Donegal and this was our favourite! Very comfortable, clean and welcoming with all the facilities that you need for your stay. We found the cottage easy to find with Louise's directions. We stayed with 2 children & a baby who all loved it also. The surrounding area was beautiful with lots of nice places for day trips. We were made to feel very welcome and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. We'd definitely recommend it and would like to go again ourselves!
We had a great stay at Harkin's Cottage. The facilities are basic but the house had everything we needed. There is some nice old furniture and the atmosphere is really snug. We soon had an "at home" feeling. The location is very quiet and rural. We were lucky to have good weather so we got to enjoy the nice view while sitting on the bench in front of the house. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again next time I visit Donegal.
A pleasant but basic cottage in a fairly rugged location close to Belleek. I was usually unable to get a signal for my phone inside the cottage, and there was no WiFi, so we felt somewhat cut off. We had difficulty finding the cottage, but fortunately were able to get instructions from a friendly local. The Belleek Pottery factory is worth visiting!
