I was born and raised in Chicago but have lived, loved, worked, and studied elsewhere. I’ve studied in Spain, El Salvador, and Mexico. I’ve lived and worked in El Salvador and Colombia. I feel very at home in Latin America.
I’m currently in graduate school studying foreign affairs/international studies. I’m muddling through my thesis. I’m interested in the relationship between violence and development. Specifically the ways in which violence creates a context for capitalist development interventions. I’m also interested in issues of food sovereignty. I also just finished a yoga teacher training. I continue to devote much of my energy to developing my personal practice and my teaching. I also work for an organization that facilitates study abroad experiences.
I've traveled quite a bit and I believe that the best way to travel is to be mindful of what it means to be a guest in another person's home, city, country. I know that I really appreciate it when guests go out of their way to be considerate and helpful.
