Traveled independently to most of Europe since 2002 using Rick Steves' guides with husband & 2 sons, both university graduates and starting careers. Both have lived overseas for several months while doing internships.
Traveled with tour group to China (2x), Egypt, Morocco, Turkey; Russia - Moscow, Golden Ring, St. Petersburg; Bulgaria: itineraries covered alot of places in each country with knowledgable local guides who gave insight into their culture; language & cultural barrier is main reason for tour group
Favorite travels: Paris, Venice, Egypt/Nile cruise, Istanbul, St. Petersburg
Favorite movie: Casablanca - yes, did visit Casablanca & Lisbon
Most memorable part of travel is the foods of each country and sometimes finding it back in US
Independent travelers who love to wander around the neighborhoods to see the architecture & shops, visit historical sites & museums, love to try the local cuisine - no McDonalds for us, book & stay in B&B's in Europe and several times the owners have given us good tips for area - personal touch; follow Rick Steves advice to be a local and not see the world through American lens
Don't need a fancy place to stay as we're gone most of the time. Tour groups provide fancier hotels but we're only there in the evening after a long day of touring by bus. If you need all the comforts of home, why travel? Just stay home.
Life Motto: "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart." Jeremiah 29:11-13
