Hola and Bienvenidos. We are Scot and Kristie, former residents of Michigan now living in Costa Rica. We bought a small property in a beautiful space called Uvita. We are the owners of La Ballena Roja Beach Bungalows, sister property to the Monkey Tree cabinas which we are managing for our dear friend Ricardo. We are happy to help plan a great vacation or just chat and interact as much as you need. We really enjoy meeting people from all over the world that come and stay with us. We hope to add you to our list of new friends.
Scot grew up in Grant, Michigan and played football and baseball for the Grant Tigers! After graduation, and a degree in Biology from Ferris State University, he joined the Army and flew helicopters for six years. That was followed by 16 years in sales working in the veterinary pharmaceuticals field. Scot has also held an avid interest in real estate and remodeling houses, and is currently the newest member of the Krain Costa Rica realty team here in Uvita. He has a passion for fitness, having been active back in the States in participting in triathlons, and hopes to dabble in organizing fitness events in Uvita. His passion for flying continues as he is certified to navigate a powered parachute which he someday hopes to bring down for beautiful tours of Uvita by air. He has 3 sons, 2 daughters and one granddaughter, with hopes of more on the way.
Kristie is the daughter of an Air Force veteran, has spent time living overseas and on numerous military bases, but has enjoyed, and spent most of her life since her fathers retirement near the shores of Lake Michigan in Empire, and then moving into Traverse City. She played volleyball and softball for the Glen Lake Lakers, and was the athletic trainer for the schools sports teams. She has her private pilots license, two Bachelors degrees from Michigan State University including Veterinary Technician and Biomedical Laboratory Sciences, and has worked as a bartender, licensed vet tech, and most recently as a laboratory scientist in the microbiology department of Munson Medical center in Traverse City. She is passionate about animals and the environment and volunteers in Uvita for the animal rescue and beach clean up organizations, and hopes to someday find more time to include more volunteer activities.
We have spent time looking for adventure and a place to land in Central America or the Caribbean. Together we have taken trips to Jamaica, Nicaragua, St. John USVI, Costa Rica and Belize. We have chosen to make this our new home. Come visit!!
