We arrived late Friday evening, in the dark. The house was easy to find and well lit. We found all the makes for S'mores waiting for us, much to the kids' delight.
The house and kitchen was well appointed, we didn't want for anything. The pond as glorious to swim in, warm yet refreshing. The canoes were all in great shape as was the dock.
The house is very kid friendly. The steps and paths are all easy to navigate. There is a room with a bunkbed and double bed, as well as an additional twin bed in another bedroom. The basement can also sleep a few people!
Our only regret was that we were only staying the weekend!
The house was beautiful -- so comfortable and kid-friendly. We found everything we needed easily and Carol and Bill responded quickly to our questions. The pond was pristine and a lot of fun for swimming and canoeing. We didn't know much about the area before our trip, but the house was full of helpful info and we had a wonderful time exploring. The park in Bridgton was great for hiking with small kids and we visited nearby lake beaches and the White Mountains. We loved it!
This is truly a special property - spacious with wonderful porches for reading and conversing with friends and family. The pond is great for swimming, fishing and paddling and is just the right size. I actually expected it to be smaller from looking at (website hidden) maps, but it was bigger than I thought. Upon arrival, the property was clean and Bill and Carol were great to communicate with - they even helped us look for some lost jewelry after we left.
The property is close to many activities. We really enjoyed hiking Mount Pleasant and were surprised at the top to find the mountain covered by wild blueberries as far as the eye could see.
If you're looking to enjoy some time to enjoy nature, this is your destination.
We had a great time at the house of Bill and Carol. It is a lovely place, secluded and intimate with lots of space for everybody in- and outside. Swimming in the lake was so nice after a hot day or just reading at the dock in the shade of the trees. To have canoes there is also great. And even when we had a day of rain we enjoyed ourselves with some classic movies and playing games.
The house itself is lovely and comfortable, we felt at home immediately. It is big enough for 6. And the lovely smell of pine is everywhere, we wish we could have taken it home. We will definitely book it again next time. Thank you so much Bill and Carol!
Our family of 6 had the pleasure of spending 2 weeks at this home in the Maine woods and we enjoyed every moment. The home was nicely furnished, clean, and presented as described by the owner. The "pond" was much bigger than expected, very clean, and was really the central activity during the time we were "home". We fished, used the canoes, and swam and the kids even camped out on the island in the middle of the pond. Just delightful.
Bridgton is very nicely located if you are interested in all the activities in the Mt. Washington Valley and/or the south or "down east" coast of Maine. We spent time these areas as well as a side trip to Acadia National Park. Additionally, we hiked and rock climbed in the White Mountains. All was very convenient from this home.
We would recommend these accommodations to friends and family alike and plan a return visit in the coming years.
Thank you Carol and Bill for making us feel so welcome.
We had a wonderful experience with Bill and Carol. Great hosts and their place is perfect, right on the pond.
Not only did Carol and Bill help make a surprise birthday getaway for my girlfriend go over seamlessly, but their home is the embodiment of the serene natural escape I had hoped for. Hale Ohana is private and secluded, yet still had access to many amenities in town. My girlfriend and I enjoyed our stay so much that we plan on coming back in the near future.
Hale O'Hana is a modern facility with all the comforts you could want and close enough to all the ruggedness that Maine has to offer. Right off of 302 in Bridgton and located minutes from pubs, skiing, and right on Beaver Pond there is no lack of activity. We had a big group of friends and we were comfortable in a large living room, big kitchen, and warm rooms. We spent our entire Saturday ice fishing and making memories down on Beaver Pond and came back to a warm house with plenty of space to cook a big dinner and play some games. The property is easily accessible (though the roads are pretty icy in the winter) and cleans up easily. Hats off to Bill and Carol for a top notch pad - we hope to return again soon.
We had a truly wonderful 12 days at Carol and Bill's lovely house. We travelled from Australia hoping for a white Christmas and Maine delivered!
The house is in a beautiful spot surrounded by trees with pond behind, a true winter wonderland. Inside was perfect, plenty of space for the 5 of us and cosy and warm to come home to. Carol and Bill put up a Christmas tree and festive decorations, and drove to meet us when we arrived. We couldn't have asked for better hosts.
There is plenty to do in the area. We took advantage of the sleds and had fun sledding near the house, Shawnee Peak is a few minutes up the road for snow boarding and skiing. Two of our sons did the learn to board package and had a great instructor. Carol recommended tubing which was awesome - especially going down together!! We shopped till we dropped at Conway outlets and Bridgton itself is a delightful small town with great cinema, bookshop, antique shops and cafe. Our highlight, apart from the house of course, was dog sledding with Mornington Crescent Sled Dogs.
Maine far exceeded our hopes and expectations for our family Christmas holiday and a huge part of that was the accommodation.
It was perfect to come home to after active days and to just unwind and relax in beautiful surroundings. Nearly forgot to mention the neighbours, although we didn't actually meet them it was good to know they were there if we needed them - thanks!
So thank you Bill and Carol, we hope we can return your wonderful hospitality one day and perhaps return to your lovely place - I bet it's fun in summer!
Fun to meet fellow hosts! We enjoyed having them visit and would love to have them again!
Easy to comunicate with and left the house in great shape. I recommend Carol as a guest! Happy you enjoyed your stay in Lake Placid!
Carol and her guests were a pleasure to have at our house. They took great care of our house, leaving it very clean and tidy! Prompt with correspondence as well. We welcome them back as our guests anytime!
